hoe much do you charge for your pups yorkierose? and what is youre health guarantee????.... i dont think youre a bitch at all, i think yorue CAREFUL, and no one can be TOO CAREFUl these days, especially with these precious lil guys/girls

I have had quite a few that are really concerned about the potty training too. I work with my dogs on potty training as soon as possible. But you can potty train any dog if you work with it and have patience. This concerns me too. Do they have the patience? Are they going to work with it or do they just expect him to sit on a toilet and flush?

And YORKIEROSE,
I have printed your response and I am going to talk to my husband about incorporating this into our process of selecting people.

Also do any of you make the people fill out application? I haven't yet. My husband and I are usually good judge of characters.

I think it is good to ask for references the same as the buyer checking the breeder out. If they had pets in the past I ask to speak to the vet who cared for them. Many people have sent me a letter from their vet before we even meet or bring it with them.

You are obviously a very knowledgeable breeder, would you please give me your thoughts on Brewer's Yeast and Calcium tablets? I know they are completely different but was wondering do you use them? I have heard that calcium tablets can cause problems, but that is what my vet gave me and I really respect his opinion but I would really respect and appreciate yours as well. Thanks so much.

I can only pass on to you what I have learned from other breeders. No artifical calcuim before whelping. I feed cottage cheese, American cheese, yogart, even vanilla pudding or ice cream in small amounts to provide calcium.
I am told calcuim pills during gestation can cause parathyorid problems...after whelping you give calcuim pills...but I crushed them up. I used to find polka dotted poop...calcuim pills were passing through their systems undigested. I stopped using pills a few years ago and went to TUMS. One half crushed in food in the AM and another half in the PM..works for my girls.

I give them all the food they want with calcuim in it..your girl has 3 pups, which is not a huge litter to drain her reserves, but it can happen of she is not a good eater or makes too much milk.
Brewers yeast can not hurt, whether it helps for milk producing is something I do not know..people used to use it to prevent flea problems.

YorkieRose- How do you use yeast to prevent fleas? I have never heard of this before. Do you put it on their coat or do they ingest it?? Does it work? Has anyone tried this? Fleas can get bad here so any tips are potentially helpful.

I have heard that too. I have tried Brewer's Yeast with Garlic. That is why I wanted to hear YorkieRose's opinion about it. As for the fleas, I read that fleas don't like the garlic. I don't have a flea problem yet, (Knock on wood) but speaking of wild things to do for fleas: I read on a groomers forum that a man used AVON'S Skin So Soft when he ran out of dog shampoo and brought it into the groomers and she said not only did it take care of fleas that it also help take out tangles. She said they brushed right out.
I would be too scared to try it.

We use the skin so soft to keep mosquitos away so it makes sense that it might work on fleas also. It seems like it would make them like a greasy little pig though. I am using advantage right now but I've heard alot of complaints that it wasn't working. I quess time will tell.

In MD I had a system to prevent fleas...each year the yard and house were spayed..about the third time we did this I never had a problem again...my Yorkies were kept on concrete playyards or wooden decking. As a breeder I found dirt/grass to be a problem for me..more of a tendancy to get fleas/worms and parasites. Not sure how the fleas are going to act here in FLorida...my Yorkies are in the house or walked in a stroller..excuse me, I walk, they ride.
I do know the flea meds from the vet work...as retired groomer, I found few coming to me with fleas in the last 5 years...fleas carry tapeworms.

You walk your dogs in a stroller? How cute is that to imagine. Don't let that get back to my dogs! They would pack up their duds and you'd have three little Yorkies knocking on your door. Ha!Ha!
I guess that works great to keep them from getting exposed to other "things" like germs and such.
That is just too cute. A stroller!

I saw a great stroller in Foster& smith..it is inclosed and the pups can not jump out. You can take them out at any age, whether they can walk on a lead or not. The older ones like it too..I do not like strange dogs coming up to mine..seen too many Yorkies attacked by big dogs..Yorkies can be busy bodies and stick their noses where they do not belong...also keeps the fleas off them in grassy areas.

ORINSKY...I did not see your post...I give a one year guarantee against genetic problems..as to price, I do not have pups for sale to pet homes this year. Right now I am breeding some breed/show litters.
