I love both of those babies! I love your baby on the left - there is such mischief but sweetness in those eyes and what a beautiful puppyface expression. The little baby doll face is cute as pie but doesn't truly look Yorkie to me.

Thanks Nancy. It always amazing how different every yorkie is. It's hard to find 2 that look the same.

I love all of the sweet little faces. :D My preference is somewhere in the middle. Not too long, and not too short.

My girls had what people called a babydoll face. Their eyes were wider set and they had a shorter muzzle. My little one, Gracie, (last two photos) had the most baby face of the three, but all had short muzzles like their sire.

Thanks, Patti. All of your babies are truly beautiful. I prefer the shorter muzzle, but health and temperament will be the first and foremost things I will be looking for when I get another Yorkie. If they can have the baby face also, that's just a bonus. Once I had my babies, truthfully I was so in love that they looked beautiful and perfect to me, faults and all. I have seen many show Yorkies who have shorter muzzles, as well.

I really agree, and I also think your babies are darling. I was just wondering if any of you who have dogs with the shorter muzzles have problems with reverse sneezing and/or honking? I'm wondering if it’s more prevalent in dogs with smaller muzzles?

actually, only two of my kids have short muzzles- toby and my 'chorkie' kitty... kitty reverse sneeze issues sometimes (like when its very cold and shes really excited) but tobys is very bad- and he had to get his soft palate tightened not to long ago because he could hardly breathe... now i wonder if that is because of his babydoll face!? i know his 'breeder' was breeding for typey yorkies- tiny and babydoll faced- and while he isn't tiny, he has had a heck of a few problems with his teeth and eyes as well.
(also, off toic, but he isn't well today-- i think he has a tummy bug, and the vomiting has made his throat raw- making breathing a little harder- so he needs positive vibes please!)

i personally prefer the terrier face- like my wee poppets (in the avatar), but i like them a little leggy to!

Yeah I have read that those with shorter muzzles had more breathing problems, but I don't know if it's a real connection, or if it's a serious problem. I hope your little boy gets better soon, sending all the positive vibes I can from Arizonia. To answer your question, I love the leggy look, especially when a dog is in full coat, I think it's breath taking!

Pixie my one with the shortest muzzle has no breathing issues, knock on wood. She rarely has the reverse sneeze. Her muzzle is short but not pushed in at all. Roxie has the in between muzzle has had some problems with reverse sneeze lately and she snores when laying on her back. She also needs to lose weight. I do have to say that Nikki who is my senior guy has a very long muzzle has never had a reverse sneeze in the almost 2 years I have had him. Also, he sleeps right next to my head and I have never heard a more quite breathing dog.

Tibbe has had about 6 episodes of reverse sneezing in the 3 years that I have had him. He's not overweight and really active but with his early history, he tends to be a nervous dog, though we work daily to help that, so I would think he would have more of any issues related to short muzzles and "nerves" but we haven't had a lot of the reverse sneezing to date. A lot of people seem to think varying degrees of the RS is due to Yorkie's nerves or attempts at micromanagement of things, too. My Scotty and Jilly had about the same amount of RS that Tibbe does - an episode or two a year. Scotty was not related to Tibbe but Jilly was.

Jackson has a longer muzzle (but not super long) and he's never had any breathing issues as far as I can recall. He sneezes when he plays, LOL, but he never does a reverse sneeze or any of that.
