Akc recognizes 150 breeds. Ckc recognizes 400 different breeds. He has genetic background checked and he is a real Yorkie. Akc may not recognize him as a $5000 Yorkie but he is legit. There is now a Merle Yorkie and if any stickler says otherwise then they can kick rocks. |

You may want to read the actual yorkie breed club website - The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America - to understand the yorkie breed standard. The merle color is absolutely not included in the breed standard and therefore cannot be called a yorkie. That's just a fact - and not at all a judgement. Trust me - I LOVE merle-colored *anything* :) - it's definitely not a judgement! |

I googled Merle Yorkie's, there are many websites on them and we all know what we read on the internet is to be taken as the gospel truth . They are refereed to as exotic yorkies. There will be no changing OP's mind when it is splashed all over the internet that there are Merle yorkies. The different colors come from a recessive gene, but they are still "just" yorkies, just like the chocolate and parti they are still yorkies, just not the standard color. People fall in love with this awesome yorkie breed, when they start searching for their perfect baby they come across these "exotic yorkies" they want what they think / feel is a rare yorkie and pay big bucks believing they have a rare new type of yorkie. Me lol, I LOVE the standard color the yorkie was breed to be. |
