looking for a female yorkie in GA Hi i'm looking for a female yorkies but i want her to be with champion blood and akc please can you help me find a reputable breeder in GA i want a female that will only weight 5 pounds not more than 5 pounds |
Welcome I also live in Georgia, my breeder had her female spayed. There are several breeders on YT. I am pretty sure one is from Georgia. Good Luck with your search. You can google Yorkmont Yorkies, they are a reputable breeder in Georgia. |
You do realize that no reputable breeder will guarantee the adult weight of a dog, right? Why is the 5 pound mark so important? The AKC standard states no more than 7, and 7 pounds is still a very small dog. |
Is she to be used for breeding? |
confused...are you looking for another Yorkie puppy as a companion to your Yorkie puppy you just posted about in June:confused: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ld-female.html |
Buy an adult dog then; no breeder will ever guarantee a future weight of a puppy. Look to rescues and shelters and save a Yorkie! Besides which the least of what you should be concerned with is weight....health is of paramount importance. |
i been looking for a yorkie female since june is my first yorkie and i want to find the right one |

i was going to buy a female yorkie she was 9 weeks old and i was trying to learn and prepare for the puppy but she live in TN and i was going to get her but the breeder sold her to somebody else and she don't have female no more and i want to learn ,what shampoo do you use for your yorkie like i said it my first yorkie puppy and i want to take good care of her if i find one i want my female to have nice coat |
I use Yorkie Splash,(shampoo) Shine,(conditioner) and Sheen.(detangler) If you are very determined to find one that will be no more than 5 lbs, try for an adult dog. They still bond with you very quickly, you get exactly what you're looking for, and most are already potty trained. Mine was! I got him at a year old, he's super smart, and we're attached at the hip. :) You can look are retired breeding dogs, and rescues. |
Reputable breeders will not guarantee weight, so if weight is important to you - you may want to but an older yorkie (at least 6 months of age). There are many people that will tell you a weight to sell a pup. But a repuatable breeder will not guarantee weight and would on be a guess. You cannot go by the weight only of the parents, but also must look at it lines - grandparents and etc.. The above mention of adopting a rescue is a great idea too. There are a lot of backyard breeders and millers here in Georgia, so be very careful. You want to make sure the breeder you go with have their pups and dogs health tested and evaluated by experts. That they do not have pups all the time and will ask you a lot of guestions and check your references before placing a pup in your home. Shampoo - no shampoo can alter a coat. Either they have a good silky coat or they do not. This is genetics. A shampoo or conditioner can help, but not alter a coat texture. Your best bet to find a good reputable breeder is to come to the upcoming AKC show in Atlanta at the Expo Center the weekend of August 25 - 28th: http://www.onofrio.com/plist/grif2pl.pdf There will be some top breeders there (some have won at Westminster) and many are ytca members. It will be a great chance too - to see some very nice AKC yorkies! I will be there too showing one of my champions, but I do not have any pups. It will also give you a chance to talk to some other breeders. Best of luck in your search. |
ok forget about the weight can you please just help me find a reputable breeder in GA that i could go and pick up the puppy and meet the dam and sired in person i just looking for a reputable breeder in GA |
P.S. When I stated they won at the Westminster - I meant they won the breed or won Award of Merit. That is great that you wont to see the parents. You should be sure you can see them. |
The dog show that Topknot mentioned is a good place to start. If not there, try the YTCA breeder referral page. That doesn't mean all the breeders you meet at the show or on the YTCA page are free of all sins. You still have to do your research, speaking to their vet, and to past puppy owners. It takes quite a bit of work, but it will be worth it in the end. :) |
The people I know would never sell a pup younger than 12 weeks of age. It is so important for the pups to stay with the mom longer to learn better social skills from the dam, for the breeder to evaluate them longer, and so that they get a better start before going to their new homes. We also llike to avoid any hypoglycemia due to stress and leaving the mother too soon is a lot of stress on the pup. Do not rush into getting just any pup. Do your research. All yorkie pups are cute when young, but as they grow you will see the difference in quality. |
