It just dawned on me I havent told the rest of the story...I have talked to Yorkierose, (ps. thank you so much for talknig me through)....Originally, the first sac appeared. I called the owner and she came right over. She was pushing and having no luck....suddenly, a second sac appeared. I knew exactly what was happeing, but the breeder DIDNT! I started trying to push the sac back up, but the mama was bearing down hard, and the second pushed through beside the first. The vet is guessing this is when her cord may have gotten strained and the intestines leaked out...not sure, but just a guess. I have frantically been calling my vets cell phone number during all of this and kept getting his voicemail. Meanwhile, the first sac is still there and not budging. I finally got ahold of another vet who agree to meet me with her. I was heading out the door, and the mama starting really pushing again...by this time, nearly 2 hours have passed since it first appeared..so, I just started pulling gently as she pushed...and the baby came out. I was sure she would be dead, after being stuck for so long, but I quickly cleaned her up and she went to crying. My first tears of the morning. The other 3 came fairly quickly after with no trouble. We could have lost both girls and the mama. And from there is where I went ahead to the vet, and then to the next vet who did the babies surgery. For anyone who is considering breeding your babies, please. please dont! Leave this to the experts!! Too many things can go wrong...just as they did. I feel so fortunate we have four healty babies and a momma to nurse them. I will encourage everyone and anyone to NEVER breed!
ps. My vet still hasnt called me back...arrrgggg. That is sooo frustrating too, becaue I just talked with him and he knew it was most likely going to be this weekend. I dont know if he had answered the first time though, that things would have been different. It all happened so fast. I feel like maybe I failed, but at the same time, had I not been with the mama, I dont think her owner would have known what to do at all. |
