There I was. lol! Nano is doing well even though we had a slight episode tonight and I had to grab and give a quick dose of Nutri-cal. Then I gave him some pablum/formula mixture and he seemed to be okay. I'll give him some more pablum before bedtime---which is about now. lol Don't know what happened today that he didn't eat as much. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention. Bad mommy! I feel so guilty! |
Poor guy... that happens quick though mommy. You have done a great job with him so far. Have you decided if you were gonna take him to the show? Hard decisions I know. I have to leave Emma when I go off to shows and it is so hard for me... |
I don't know what I'm going to do. I have a show in Bellville where I'm going to be staying with another yorkie show friend. I think hubby can care for him, BUT if he starts to crash or does crash, will he be looking, will he know what's happening, will he respond quickly enough? I think I just talked myself into taking him with me. That said, I may have to take the whole litter. It was aweful when I got up this AM---the first time.lol Poop everywhere! Hubby's not going to handle that. I went back to bed and when I got up again, it was just as bad. Had to wash feet and buts. Remember, there's 5 in the litter! They all need a bath! My whole house smells like nasty puppies! and I hate that! Got to bathe my Special (Mick), so I'll see if I have time to do puppies, too. Nano is doing well this AM and he ate puppy food without anything else in it---not formula or water---just dry. Him such a big boy! :) lol |
gave him some pablum w/formula and scrambled him an egg last night after he started to crash. That was after the Nutri-cal. |
I hear ya..I am fostering a litter right now that the mom had eclampsia and cannot nurse them so with a litter of 5 of a breeder I know. She has another litter and is working diligently with them and asked if I could take on this litter. I have none of my own and have no plans for any for at least 6 months so I took them on. They are just 2.5 weeks old but when you bottle feed them and you have to clean them up...they poop all over each other, pee all over each other and that is feeding every 3 hours.. I have bathed them 4 times already. I use unscented baby wipes in between baths and still had to give them real baths. Talk about dirty laundry!! So with a litter of eating pooping machines that you have I feel for ya. I have a neat little globe thing that cleans the air and boy does it work well to neutralize the odor, plus I used a diaper genie for the poopy paper towels, ect... As for the show, I know what that is like. I am always a nervous wreck about leaving Emma but I feel that with showing and grooming I cannot watch her as well as she needs so I have to leave her behind. |
Nano Yes, I worry about that too----that I won't be able to watch him very closely, but what I plan to do, is make sure he has a full tummy before I start grooming and go in the ring. Course I've got a dog and a bitch to show----or my breeder may show my special for me. That would help. Not sure, though. I know she's showing him at Westminster for me in Feb. I'll be there cheering them on. ;) Hoping I won't have these puppies by then! except for Nano. Hopefully hubby can take care of him, but he'll probably be working (YAY!!!) by then. Don't know what I'll do with him. Can't fly him with my Special to N.Y.C., I don't think. |
Hi, guys. Update on Nano. He went back for an evaluation/check up/worming, bortetella today. Dr. B. says he's pretty sure he's hydracyphalic. But it's not severe and he could live a really long time. Remember he has the open fontenal which is not closing. He said this is one of those situations where you just love them and care for them and you'll have them as long as you're supposed to. Maybe long, maybe not. I'm not surprised. He definitely looks different, but he is so darned CUTE. He'll get the very best care available and I pray he'll live a long, long life. |
That is sad but like my Emma he will be with you as long as he is allowed to stay on earth with you. I treat Emma everyday like it is her last. She has become quite spoiled but not rotten. She is the sweetest dog I have ever owned and loves me so much and I her. Whenever someone else is holding her and she sees me, she tries to jump out of their arms and shakes and shivers till I pick her up. I dread the day she goes over the rainbow bridge...:(. |
Very lethargic puppy OMGosh, I can't even imagine. How old did you tell me Emma is? I told you I have an Emma folder in My Pictures with all the pics you've sent me. I know what you're saying. I guess because they are "special needs", you just love them more. I know Nano is going to be really spoiled, too! I miss him so much when I'm away from home without him. I've got to get me a better little carrier that he can't get out of. lol However, it's too cold down South here right now to take him out 'just around town'. It's going to be 15 degrees for the high on Sunday! We're not used to that! My adult yorkies go outside to potty, but they also use washable pads inside, so I think it's going to be inside potty for a few days! Got to keep me some Nano warm! ;) |
BTW, hubby did a great job with Nano while I was in Belleville this past weekend. (which was great! My special, Mick, beat the #1 Yorkie in the country, went Best of Breed, then took a Group IV. Yay!!!). I surely did miss me some Nano, though. |
OMG awesome!!! That must have thrilled you to no end! I go with my boy for his first real show this weekend. I have been helping my mentor but this time it is for me and him. Of course I will be helping her also and her friend Vickie, between us 3 there are 5 dogs showing so all the hands are needed for sure. I hear you about missing Nano!! I have been going to shows almost every weekend and I miss her so much I can hardly stand it. I actually feel very guilty not taking her but with showing you know how it is...bathing the am of, brushing, more brushing, going to the arena, more brushing, topknot, show, undo all you did, get back to the hotel, potty the dogs, feeding, get a bite to eat, then crash!! Poor Emma and your Nano would get lost in the shuffle. Emma is 17 months old now and just topped the scales at 1 pound 11 ounces, lol.I still home cook for her and each time I make a batch I have to mix up what proteins she will be getting. Last time was chicken breast and low fat cheddar cheese, this time was dark meat chicken and cottage cheese, sometimes I buy lamb and cook that but that is rare as I hate the thought of the baby sheep.... She likes it switched and I find doing that I do not have to force feed her that way:rolleyes: brat. Send some updated pics of Nano when you have a chance... |
Very lethargic puppy I'm very lucky that he loves puppy food right now. I put a little yogurt on his food in the AM, but the rest of the time, he really the puppy food well. I'm presently feeding Blue Buffalo with a few pieces of Origen puppy. I would cook or do raw or whatever he needed, but fortunately I'm not having to----yet. He hit 1 lb 10 oz. yesterday. Yes, I was so proud of Mick this past weekend! Can't wait for him to go to his next show. I hate to do shows in the dead of winter because of weather issues, so I don't know what to do. I'm still waiting to see if he got in Westminster! The still do a draft even after they accept your money. |
