.....and now they're offline, what a shock.

LilPuppyLove 12-17-2010 02:37 PM

I dont understand why people feel that others will believe them if they make an account, and go STRAIGHT to the thread posted about them.... lol, its kinda funny if you ask me...

Micah my love 12-17-2010 02:56 PM

Boy did they ever come to the wrong place

Hmmmm only time will tell about goldmine Yorkies. I will keep you all posted about the pup that I will get from them in January. I've already set up appointments with a vet I went to undergrad with and she will make sure the pup's health is ok!

This will be my first puppy in my life and I'm hoping everything runs smoothly. Luckily my job offers a great rate on pet insurance and I have that now. So that's a relief.

But like I said earlier on this thread, I went to the breeders house and stayed for about an hour and met the pups parents and had all my questions answered by the breeders. They seem genuine and truly love their own Yorkies! But you guys are right, only time will tell. I will definitely inquire about their contract and all the points you all brought up. Definitely will tell u her answers when I talk to her.

[QUOTE=bentleymyorkie;3359715]I've heard only but great things from several different people who have purchased from they. They are clean and obviously love their yorkies. Why don't you come down from your country of CANADA and check them out and see for yourself. I'm sure you'll feel like a complete idiot after what you see. Don't speak negative about their puppies if you know NOTHING about the breeder and it's history. Thank you :)[/QUOTE.

Here is only one thing concerning about their supposed health guarantee:
Puppy must be took to a licensed vet within 48 hrs of receipt of puppy and call
seller if there is a congenital life threatening, non-treatable condition only. A
letter must come from licensed vet to seller stating diagnosis. Again, seller not
responsible for hypoglycemia.

What I bolded leaves the seller to "slip" out of a lot of congenital conditions. Wow your pup could test positive for liver shunt, and huh guess what that could be construed to be non life threatening. Ditto for grade 2/3/4 Lp, ditto for CERF, ditto for Legg Perthes, ditto for heart, thryoid.

And there is nothing on their website which would even in the slightest entice me to travel 200o miles to purchase a pup, with no health checks, from dams n sires with no health checks, from non champions, with a breeder who doesnt' even offer a meaningfull to "me" the buyer health guarantee.

Why would you trust anything/anyone 100% if you haven't got the pup yet or had it vet checked? This sounds more like a public service announcement to drum up business, than an actual breeder review. Any good breeder would also tell you to wait till after a "stressful" busy holiday to bring home a new pup.

This probably sounds completely ignorant, but as I do not have a puppy yet, (I am trying to learn everything I can before buying one) I hope you will forgive my idiocy, why is it better to bring a pup home after the holiday? Wouldn't it make more sense to let them meet everyone right away?

Of course they will be super nice to you before you pay them. how they respond to you afterward is what we are trying to warn about. Their contract is ridiculous. It covers them not you. Just remember, if *god forbids* something happens to your puppy and they do not do anything for you, which they won't, don't forget the puppy lemon law, which is LAW and they like all other citizens are held up to it.

the way the contract is worded proves what kind of people they are. they do not care about the dogs, they care about their bottom line.

gemy 12-17-2010 04:24 PM

Good question. Really the answer assumes that for most of us, we are very busy around the holiday season, that our focus is naturally diverse. For pups, it is best to introduce at a time when the environment is quiet, and you can devote a lot of time to accimitazing your pup to your home and immediate family. Pups do need a lot of care, which at Christmas time with trees, decorations, and visitors coming in and out you cant easily handle.

No, the holidays are a busy and crazy time, and puppies need CONSTANT attention. Esp with potty training. Too many people coming and going, busy with life, it's the worst time of the year to bring home a pup. Reputable breeders try not to have pups available at this time bc of this reason. Disreputable ones will have tons during this time. Advertising them as great xmas gifts. Then come january and february when families realize the dog was not for them or too much work, then they get sent to the shelter, rescues or sold, bc the breeders do NOT want to take the dogs back, bc they do not care about the dogs, they care about the $$$$.

A reputable breeder will take the dog back at any point in its life.

I forgot to say. We looked at a family that had yorkies a few years ago. they said the breed bc the love the breed, and while I don't doubt that they love the breed, they were doing nothing to improve the breed, in fact they were helping destroy it. They were breeding their bitch who was about 10 lbs (over standard) was completely gold (not to standard), and were studding out their male, who they kept locked in another room bc he was aggressive (!) How can we see this and believe them? yes they were nice, and yes we too stayed in their home (a nice one at that) for about an hour. They were charging $1500 for their pups, and they were BIG. they were about 12 weeks old and running up and down the stairs like pros already. Barking too. Uni didn't bark until she was 4 1/2 months old. I still wonder if they were able to sell all their pups, the bitch had seven of them.

A puppy needs a certain adjustment time when moving away from its mother and siblings into a new strange house, you want to be able to give the pup your full attention. It may be very overwhelming to a new pup to meet everyone at once. Christmas is very busy for everyone...get the pup at a quite time so that it has time to adjust to you and the house.

You should never say a breeder is good or bad until you have the pup and you have had the pup checked out. What if you said here that the breeder was great...then you took your pup to the vet and found out it had a million things wrong with it? Someone may read what you wrote and decide to get the pup and find out it has issues. All I am saying is that you need to always be leary of someone trying to sell you anything. A few conversations doesn't mean someone is good/bad. I get suspicious when I see someones first post saying how great a certain breeder is and to buy from them.

yeah that's definitely something I should've thought about before giving a deposit. But trust me when I say that i will be completely devoted to this new pup. I agree that the contract needs to be changed, but hopefully Jordan gets to live a long and happy life at my house :).

I really like this yorkie forum. I've been reading a lot of posts on here and learning so much. Thanks to everyone that contributes on here! It's greatly appreciated!

Another problem with bringing home a new pup at Christmas time is that, by their very nature, the decorations aren't puppy-proof! Toxic plants, candies and cookies galore, shiny ornaments and low blinking lights are pretty irresistable to pups.
