When I had the Lhasa's I had a lady call me wanting to know if my male stud was black and white. I said he was. She wanted to know if I would allow him to service her female. She was looking for a black and white stud as (you ready for this??) she wanted a black and white puppy and she only wanted her female to have one puppy!! I explained to her that I did not allow my male to breed with just any female, and that all the litters he had sired there had only been a couple of puppies that were black and white and there were always 5 or 6 puppies in each litter - never less than 5, and if she just wanted one black and white Lhasa then she needed to find a breeder with a black and white puppy for sale. |

Reputable breeders aren't excited about whelping. The closer it gets to whelping time, the harder it is to sleep. Not because the puppies are here. But just to be sure you don't miss something. You can't sleep thinking about doing her well-being, going over everything in your mind, making sure you have everything ready for the 100th time. We never think we know everything. There isn't any joy in a pregnancy. The only joy in breeding is knowing that you've done all the right things to breed to the standard to leave the breed in a better place it was than when you found it. This is not the two canines you mated but the breed itself. It takes many years to do things the right way. But well worth it. There's honor in spaying and neutering. This is showing love for your pet. |
