| artificial insemination Has anyone ever had any luck in artificial insemination? I had to have Duchess artifically inseminated yesterday and today. The stud could not get into her she had a very small opening. My vet did a cytology test on her so we were sure of our cycle days. We used fresh sperm I took both stud and bitch to the vet. I would appreciate anyone's imput |

| Never had to have this done but sure am anxious to see if it was successfull. I know of a website where a Yorkie breeder advertises stud service and artifical insemination. If you want it I can email it to you. |

| ? It is the same as human AI. The vet places the sperm in the female by way of a tube, instead of actual contact between the two dogs. Some times it is necessary when there is a physical problem as mentioned or the male is out of state, refuses to breed etc. |

| I have never had it done with my dogs. But I know most English Bulldogs have it done this way. |

| She is 4.3 lbs the male is 3.0 lbs. he is a lot shorter than her. My vet says she shouldn't have any problems whelping. |

| She is too small to be bred. Dont be surprised if she has to have a c section.

| My girl was 5 1/2 lbs and the male was 3 3/4 lbs and she had to have a c-section. Just because the male is small doesn't mean he won't throw big pups. That is what happened in my case. |

| Wow your little girl is really too small for breeding. I agree w/ Chachi that your chances of having to get a c-section for her are very high. Breeding a bitch that small could kill her. I hope she doesn't have any problems. OFF TOPIC.. SORRY! And yes, I think almost all English Bulldogs have to be artificially inseminated.. they can't even breed with eachother and can't whelp on their own either. C-section every time bc the pups are too big. I wouldn't even think that your vet would allow you to breed your girl when she's this small anyway. Does he specialize in small breeds? Oh, yea and it sometimes takes a couple trys for the female to actually take to the insemination. It took my bf's bulldog Lulu 3 or 4 times this past litter.. She only had one pup though.

| I am no breeder but you would think that if her opening was to small for him to do his thing, she would have problems with getting puppys to fit through that same opening during whelping. I would talk to your vet about this or even scheduling a c section, just incase.
