Your Code of Conduct says that breeders must follow the AKC standard, but the AKC does not set the standard, the YTCA does. The AKC is just a registry. On their "Meet the Breeds" page, the standard is copied directly from the YTCA. American Kennel Club - Yorkshire Terrier
Don't you think that is misleading? | Yes, the mother club is the keeper of the standard. But, don't let that fool you. When the standard is established and/or changed it is done with AKC compliance. There is a representative that sits in with the YTCA while changes are being worked on.
AKC is a registery of pure bred dogs; but, not only a registry......and every breed has a standard that the AKC uses to judge pure bred dogs. Judges, even those that are used for UKC dog shows are AKC judges. |
