If you are going to switch foods, just make sure you go slowly so she doesn't get an upset tummy from it.

The woman I got her from says she was feeding her" Dog chow/ puppy chow".. but again I will state I dont think that anything she said was true. I know gracie isnt eatting today and I dont know why. She hasnt toucdhed anything shes been offered..not even the cottage cheese.

Have you tried boiling some white meat chicken and giving it to her. Even sick dogs usually eat some chicken breast. Good luck with her, I feel bad for you.

Changing her food at this time is not a good idea. You don't want to upset her system. You can add the Natural Balance Rolls for added weight gain......

Have you been talking temps on her? That's why I mentioned the possibility of an incorrect due date. She's going to the vet in the am. But is there any possibility of labor?

No mention was made about a thermometer. I assumed you have one when you said you have most of the things on the list of other things so I didn't mention it. Do you have one handy?

Could be because she gained a pound since Friday. I'm sure she needed the food but her system can only handle so much at a time. You may see some funky poops for a few days as a result. Let her rest her belly if she chooses and she'll let you know when she's hungry.

A bit of pepto may be in order.

But, as mentioned if she is pregnant and the dates are wrong or right. I sometimes have my girls slow down on their eating the last week.

I PM'd her some things to watch for that could indicate a quick trip to ER.

I agree. I was supporting what you said. I use it to get them to eat more. I like that it's solid, east to hold. Canned dog food smells and gets in their coat. This is clean. It's also good with dry food. They love it.

Mary, I had actually mentioned that (Pepto) in my post but edited it out. I thought to do a quick search and found out it is not recommended for pregnant dogs, which Gracie may be.

I found the info at this site....

I've used it with no adverse reaction. But, you're right it maybe shouldn't be recommended until spoken with a vet.

The Natural Balance is great for adding weight. It does contain sugar.

I've always used canned food to entice, because it is smelly and dogs love smelly.

Also, here's some more info on Pepto and dogs.

Ok wow.. alot to respond to.. Yes I have taken her temp and its been right around 100. She not panting or crying or anything that makes me think labor is an issue ..shes just not interested in the food Im giving her..My daughter opened a can of tuna and she got all excited and I didnt let her have it because i dont know if that is ok? She seems to be a bit picky. Again I will say she will not touch dry food .. I think its because of her teeth..They look awful and her breath is killer stinky! I do not mind brushing her non stop as long as she enjoys it.. She has no problem with anything I do to her except her mouth and she will NOT leave a bow in her hair for more than five minutes. LOL

PetzLife Oral Care Spray. You could use this to spray in her mouth. Many pet food stores carry something like this. It's not going to reverse the carries, but it might help to stop further degeneration. It also comes in a gel which you apply with your fingers

For pregnant bitches I wouldn't feed tuna, perhaps just some white fish, sole, pickerel etc. Also canned tuna might have a high salt content.

If you want to tempt her appetite, perhaps some fresh liver, lightly sauteed, or kidneys.

Gemy, can't use PetzLife Oral Care Spray on pregnant bitches....nothing out of the ordinary....you need to keep everything as natural as possible.

Cleaning items, vinegar. water and lemon. No pesticides in the house or yard.

Ok thank you.. Im glad I didnt let her have the tuna and Ill get the spray tomorrow.

Ok..then I would do the spray.. I cant wait till tomorrow to see the vet. I will be a whole lot less worried once I know if she is having babies for sure or not!

Here's a trick I use when weaning pups and it times it works on my pregnant moms. Sprinkle a bit of Parmasean cheese on top.....Oh! you can use grated cheese on her food too. I prefer nonfat. A bit of yogurt too is good for her digestive tract.....just make sure it's plain or non-fat vanilla.

Good Luck...by the way you mentioned that she was lacking in her vaccinations. I'm sure your vet knows not to give them if she's pregnant.

Well Gracie and I are still at work but we just got in from the vet. He says she is now 5.6 lbs and her teeth do need a little work and He says he cant hear any babies. SHe does need her puppy shots but she has had her rabies. He told me to feed her CHicken or Turkey Wet cat food since she wont eat. Im going to take her to my regular vet as well..I dont know why but I think Id feel better if the vet Im use to looks at her too.

I would take her to your regular vet ASAP. Have x-rays done to insure no pups.

Yes I will..Im not very comfortable with the vet she saw..neither was she..she bucked like a wild horse when he tried to look in her mouth.Ive gotta get back to work.. Ill be on again later!

If you are uncomfertable with a vet you should always get a second opinion, and it sounds like your regular vet is good and makes you feel at ease.

Ty Mary, I guess I got too focussed on the teeth. I did read the ingredients those that were posted on the label, and well they show some grain alcohol as part of the ingredients, and proprietary herbs and natural oils which are not listed out.

But hopefully the little one isn't pregnant and she can proceed ahead with whatever other vet care Gracie needs.
