Basic supplies you can pick up at the drug store:

Alcohol
Iodine
Denta Floss unflavored and preferably unwaxed
small scissors
Phisoderm
Antibacterial Hand Cleaner.
Wash Clothes about a dozen (pick them up at the 99c store)
Small stainless steel container for disinfecting equipment
Cotton Swabs
3 inch square guaze
Alcohol Swabs
Baby Wipes (uncented)
A baby nasal aspirator
A good medicated Shampoo to bath her in.
Inconstinent Pads (you can get the at Wahl Mart).

I don't think it's hard to fall in love with yorkies, their eyes just pull you in and you can't help but love them.

OP you are a saint! Taking in a girl from such a horrible place. Please let us know how things progress. You will find lots of good advice here. I'll send big hugs to you and your new baby. :)

Well stated like that....I guess it is, if we're helping out someone in need. And if it turns out this wee one is pregnant, we'll be right back her in about a week or so.

OP please, please, if this is not a false pregnancy...make sure your vet is available for you should you need him/her during the night. Get a phone number where you can reach him.

Well thank you but I will feel more like a saint when I know for sure my Gracie is going to be ok. she is a doll and follows me every step I take... She wont even stay with her food if I move so I have to stay right there and watch her eat..lol Shes a doll!

Ahh Ok..alot of that I have here already due to my line of work. And I will let U all know what the vet tells me about my lil angel. I sure hope she will be ok ..If she isnt preggy she is getting spay asap!

TMWESS77, here's a site to look at and get acquainted with the basics of whelping. I think you'll find it helpful and it'll be good to start familiarizing yourself with some of this, just in case.

If you've got hemostats; great.


You'll have to get together a whelping box and a quiet area where she can whelp and raise those pups....away from traffic and other dogs in the house.

Crate Pads
Lots of bedding changes, large enough that you can pin down, so pups can't get under and smother.
Pee Pads

If I take an afternoon nap, I'm good till around midnight or one PT, but it's always good to have someone to bounce things off of.

Get lots of rest, if this turns out to be a go, you're gonna need it. I don't know if you have children. But, if you do I liken it to those first 3 months after bringing home a baby from the hospital.....no sleep.

lol..I have two{ son 18 daughter 13}and in the middle of getting custody of a 15 year old niece. I also work 7 days a week and take my lil Gracie with me. LOL..This will be interesting to say the least provided everything is ok with Gracie!
