I've been told by a Biewer owner the actual pronounciation is Beavers....the W is a V in the word Biewers |

She said they pronounce it Beaver in Germany and Buer in America. I wonder how everyone is saying it here. I don't want to feel like an idiot when someone asks. |
Both are used - |
I was told it was Beaver also but it was not from somone in Germany. So, I wanted to be certain of the pronunciation. I called my friend in Germany who breeds Biewers and asked her the correct way to say it. And it is Bee-v-air=Bevair that is how it's pronounced. We say Beaver, they say Bevair...the accents a little different but the w is pronounced like a v. Hugs, Irene |
YorkieRini , your Yorkies and Biewers are beautiful . |
Biewers YorkieRini.. Whispersmom and myself called them BREWERS..then BEA-VERS for a long time...then a couple German breeders told us it BEA-VARS.. |
I am glad I read this so when I go to the show tomorrow and the subject comes up I will know what they are talking about and pronounce the word correctly. |
Thanks sweetie!! Quote:

Funny how many ways we can say Biewers..I've also heard the called: By-weres...lol. |
So THATS how you pronounce it. It has been one of those words that you know what it means but you couldn't pronounce so you kinda just mumble it under your breath! lol.. this whole time I was thinking "bew-ers" |

I've always pronounced it Bee-u-ers, kind of rhymes with brewers. Anyway, they're all beautiful. As far as buying from the internet, I chose a puppy from the net but one close enough to go see in person. I was invited into their home but not the kennel because they had a new litter of pups and didn't want them exposed to foreign bacteria. I can understand that, I'd feel the same way. They brought two little girls in for me to look at and both parents. What I didn't like was that we passed the kennel and the dogs were basically stacked in cages upon one another. It looked like the poor dogs lived in cages like chickens. They had at least 3 different breeds. I thot it was a puppy mill, in my opinion it was. I have been told by several breeders who don't breed like that, that if it was clean, and neat, if the dogs were well taken care of then it wasn't a puppy mill. My puppy had never been on grass before, it scared her. She's turned out to be a little beauty. What constitues a puppy mill? I forgot to add that they sold to pet stores. They were getting out of it, was what I was told. Hmmm. (Make that brokers, not pet stores. I know the same thing.) |
