what can I do to help
she is pusing but making little progress

What part of the puppy is out. If it's the head, your girl may need some assistance in dilating. Put on a surgical glove. Slather your index finger with KY and insert your finger and gently lubricate her vaginal opening....This method is called feathering and can get her to bear down harder and expel the pup and of course it also dilates her....If that doesn't help, you have minutes to get her to the vet.

Ream her by dilating her. remove the membrane, suction the mouth. get her to another ER vet.....The reaming should allow the shoulders should pass. I've had this problem before and it has worked. Remember you have other pups behind it and their lives are on the line.

Don't panic...the head is out and still in the sac...do as Mary said and gently pull it out..it probably needs one or two good pushes..it will come out just when you think it won't...

Glad you got the baby out...
Saw this too late and glad Mary was on.... Have delivered a few pups this way..birth canal gets dry or pup too big....

Thanks for the offer of help. She has delivered puppy #3 a 5.6oz girl. Right now everyone is resting and doing fine.

The last one was born at 3:40. It was a long day for both of us.

they are all doing grefat. I'm taking Mamma to the vet this morning for antibiotic and clean out shot.

Well not sure about the antibiotic. Just guessing he will want to give her one because of all the bruising and swelling. But maybe not.

Not to worry about the bruising and swelling....pretty normal when a girl is whelping a pup the size of the one your girl whelped. Antibiotic shot, IMO is more detremental to the pups at this stage.

Wow, good job getting him out! The same thing happened to us, only it was Sunday night Memorial Day and I just called after watching the head out for 45 mins, thankfully while I was on the phone with emergency, Shayna pushed and the pup came out just fine. Those are the scary moments in all the blessings. Don't you find that your mind goes completly blank. I couldn't remember a thing:confused:

Had Baylee to the vet, she is doing fine. No fever so he did not feel antibiotics were needed. Gave her a shot of oxytocin.

The puppies have all gained weight, so all is well.

Yes it was scarey. Then when I called the vet, they were just leaving for lunch and they close for an hour. So I was thankful that Mary came to the rescue.

Baylee was not making any progress with pushing, but once I popped one shoulder out she pushed him right out.

Wow! What a scare, but you did great! I'm so happy all four little ones survived and that Baylee is doing well. Those pups are adorable...I think I can tell which one was stuck...definitely bigger than the others. Congrats!
