Puppies are coming
 
Shayna is having her piups, first one snuck out on us on the couch. Temp was 100.4 and didn't think that panting was the only sing. 2 out 1 too 1 hour... Will report soon... Too excited, kinda spazy, whole family including visiting family her and helping, no mentors answering phone.. Anyone on line too help if I need it

I'm here if you have any questions. I would put her in a private room though and not too many people around her. They kinda zone out and concentrate, and they do better with quiet. Maybe just you helping her.

Still waiting, been about a half hour. Most out of room but husband and neice (to be mom of a pup). She just drank a lot of water, but hasn't had any all day, a little ice cream. Is having some contractions, nothing coming yet. Thanks for hanging. No isea how many to expect. Can feel atleast 2.

It's been 3 hours, she just started panting, drank water, peed 2x and is licking pups, I keep trying to stop her from overdoing it. Still waiting, I can hear 2 more still inside. Called a vet he said come in after 4 hours and nothing, is that right

Okay 6 hours, I think we are done. All went well, only 1 scare when one took an hour to come out.
So here are the stats, pictures later too tired...

1 boy 6.7 oz
1 girl 6.0 oz
1 boy 6.2 oz

Just beautiful. Each has a white marking on their chest (normal?)

Congratulations on your new litter. I pray momma and babies do well. I hope you get some rest now. A little white on the chest is very normal.

So far so good, mom and pups are doing great... Question, mom panting a lot when feeding, normal? Eating, drinking great... Loves chicken broth ice cubes, had ice cream 1tbs, cottage cheese 1/8 cup and puppy food. Most she's eaten ever in 1 day. Is all good?

Panting for a few days after delivery is normal, as long as she has no elevated temperature. Congrats on your litter, it sounds like mom and babes are doing well.

Temp is a little high for this soon after whelp. Although usually a normal temp, it usually takes a few days to reach 101 after whelping. Keep a close eye on her temp and if it goes up, rush her to the Vet.

I've had eclampsia twice. Once was within 2 hours of whelping, and pups hadn't sucked much at all.
And the other was a week before pups were due. She wasn't in labor but she had a big litter inside her and the pups had taken everything out of her, even with the right foods.

Dam was 10lbs before pregnancy.Temp now 102.5

Is she still panting? Has she gotten up to walk and if she did, did she walk like normal and not stumbling?
I don't know but if she was mine, I would be a little concerned about eclampsia.

Walking and eating just fine. Not panting right now but feeding. Just gave her some ice cream. Goes potty out side regularly, likes to get away from pups just a little, but goes back well. Gave her 1/2 petab. Seems good, panting subsided for now, we'll see tonight. Goes to vet tomorrow, with pups.

IMO those pups should be latching on. In my readings it seemed like mom wanted to pant. This is not normal. We go with our gut. It's usually right. She's not my bitch. I'd have my vet here. I wouldn't have a situation like this. I don't know anything about breeding a bitch that size.

I feel that you must have at least one ex-ray. Even if they aren't always accurate it gives you a good guess at the size & number to know if you will need a c-section. You can never be too prepared. Did you get a shot to make sure she's cleaned out? Didn't you say they were a little early?

They are latching on, just one struggles. Yes I will get xray next time (if a next). All placentias were out and accounted for. Yes early - day 60. No panting right now. She is acting very good and to me normal. Thank you for your concern

They are so cute!! What a wonderful Aunt you are in giving your niece a puppy. Has she picked out her baby yet or is she waiting to see their personalities?? When I was little my Aunt showed and bred Labs. I LOVED going over when she had puppies. When I was a little older my cousin and I helped her nurse a couple pups back to health. I would have LOVED picking out one of her puppies for myself.
I was never able to have a dog when I was a kid, so she gave me a kitten for my 8th grade graduation. Had it for 13 years :)
Keep posting pics... I would love to see them grow.

Thanks so much, very encouraging. They are beautiful. I like to think I am calm in a storm, but this time DH was calmer then me. I can't take my eyes off them
