any updates? |
Oh no!! I hope everything is going ok!! |
We did an xray and an ultrasound upon arrival last night. The puppy's head was massive, a centimeter bigger than her pelvic opening and there's no way it was going to come out naturally. It was also breech and laying a bit sideways. The ultrasound couldn't find a heartbeat but the doc couldn't see very well because of the way the pup was laying. We did the c-section, and the puppy didn't make it. It had no heartbeat and they still tried to resuscitate it but to no avail. I heard its heartbeat yesterday so I assume the hard labor at home was just too much stress for it to handle. All of that pushing and the pup was still very high up, almost in her ribcage. Kiwi was spayed during the surgery. I never want her to go through this again! Longest night of my life! I feel so terrible. But I am very thankful she came out of the c-section okay. I would not know what to do with myself if she died during surgery. Wishing for happy and healthy deliveries for all of the upcoming mommas to be! |
Oh my, I am so sorry for your loss. You had such a horrendous night and an sad end. Just know we are here for you and praying for you and your baby. I hope she has a smooth and quick recovery. |
sorry :( oh I am so sorry to hear this. I am in tears.. :( Kiwi is ok which is a blessing. The poor puupy. Did any puppies survive? Give her all the attention she wants these next few weeks. I am so afraid now. I dont know what I would do if I lost my Gezell..wow..where did you end up taking her for a c-section? Was it the orginal Vet who refused? Dont ever go to that Vet again. He should be more concerned with saving lives then a credit card ..ridiculous.. I hope Kiwi feels better soon :) and you.. Quote:

So sorry for your loss of the puppy and sending prayers and good thoughts to your girl Kiwi for a speedy recovery and good health. Dion |
Thank you for the kind words. I was a mess last night & this morning and I couldn't stop crying. Kiwi seems to be recovering well though. This morning she was very listless and out of it but now she seems to be her old self again- maybe a more tired version of herself. I am taking this time to give her plenty of cuddles and snuggle time. The vet did say that her uterus didn't look very healthy :( so I am very glad I had her spayed. |
think my yorkie is due june 26th when does a yorkie start to show cause in my siberian husky she started showing at 3 wks and stopped jumping up and down..chloe should be 3 wks yesterday and she's not showing and she still jumps up and down when she wants to go outside...i saw the tye on april 23rd just for a few min...went back on sat april 24th cause it would of been the last day for her to get pregnate and they tied for 15-20min could she still be pregnate...my husband thought she should be showing now and slowing down.. |
They don't show till week 6 or so, mine started at 5 and is now on day 53 and was jumping and everything up until a week ago |
I agree with Rad..... Especially if this is a first pregnancy. Sometimes they don't slow down until you make them/ or until their last two weeks. |

Help Anyone know if heavy panting is the first stage of labor? She is doing a few other things but the panting is getting worse. She is next to me on the couch now but cant get comfortable. Her normal temp of 99.5 is now 98.2. How much does it have to drop or is that a waste of time? She ate very little a few hours ago and she never refuses chicken! :) any help :)i would appreciate |
This is my first time too, but everything I read sounds like this is the beginning. Temp of 98+ and panting and restlessness. Is it time? Were you expecting them around now? Keep a close eye and look for a mucus plug as signs. Try to keep her strength up and water too. Keep us posted... |
She is 58 days now so I was waiting since day 55..:) Mucus plug signs i am not sure of. When I took her temp I used ky gel and it seemed what came off from it was a lot so it could have been mucus plug. She is licking her teats a lot, She cant reach her vulva but im not sure if its ok for her to do this. The panting has slowed down a little but it is still goin to be a long night!!!! It is exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time.. oh yes, she is trying to reach her vulva now..uh ohhh :) Quote:

Am I wrong, but aren't you suppose to take her temp rectally? She wouldn't have lost her mucus plug that way, LOL. Sorry:D Hang in there! You can do it! |
haa haaaaaaaaa :P LOL ,, funny, of course rectally but i made a mess with the ky..lol..wait til tomorrows errors in communicating with no sleep..:p Quote:

labour sounds like she's in labour if the temp is below 101 degress i think she's in labour and heavy panting is another sign she should have the pups with in 48hrs someone told me gl and let us know |

Under 101 does not mean labor. My girls baseline temp right now is 100 at 52 days. If you take it regular you should see a little drop, then spike back up and then drop down under 99. I guess everyones thermomator is different but I see 98 or 97.9 when they start going in. panting, digging, shaking, trying to hide, not wanting you to leave her, licking herself alot are all other signs. |

Howdy! Here is Rafael at 56 days, I feel so bad because she's itching from fleas probably from the new yard we moved into about a month ago and she can't reach. No flea sprays either right? Poor girl all I can do is itch for her. I'm trying to get all my grooming clients in by the end of the week so I can b with her 24/7. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...x/78a172ce.jpg |

My Gabby should be due in the last week of June. She is only 3 1/2 weeks pregnant. Her and my male tied on Sat. the 24th (yes, I was an accident so please don't judge me I'm here for advice because I am very nervous/anxious). I read on the web and from this post that she won't start showing until about the 5th week, which makes me feel better because I was getting worried that she hasn't put any weight on. My main concern is that I won't be able to tell when she is going into labor (and she will need a c-section). Ugh it's only the begining of the pregnancy and I am already stressing! It is both (Gabby and myself) of our first pregnancy and I'm sure my stress won't help her out any. Also, we have her on Blue Buffalo puppy food. Is that all she needs or should I give her some other things such as boiled chicken and what not? Thanks for all your help and I hope to hear updates from the "expecting" on here so I won't feel as worried! |
welcome Hello and welcome to YT. Can I say Congrats! You sound like me when I first started here. We just had OUR first litter also 2 days ago. It is very nerve wrecking and you will be a sponge with info for awhile. Read everything you can. This site helped A LOT. You will get critized by a few people but take it with a grain of salt cs then you will get your questions answered.:D Dont be afraid to ask questions. I am not a breeder but I have a 1x experience:). read all my threads if you can. I had many of the same questions you have or will have. How do you know she is pregnant? Are you getting an ultrasound to be certain? I will help as much as I can as so will some of the helpful breeders on here. Good Luck! Quote:

65 days and counting! Today is the 65th day from first breeding.... 63rd from second. Natasha went 65 days her last time too! She is SO uncomfortable! Refusing to eat anything except boiled chicken and of course, anything I may be eating at the time! She doesn't pant, but breathes very heavily with a soft groan. I've been home from work all week with her and she insists that I stare at her! :) (that doesn't include much sleep, she's been in her bin on my bed for the past two nights) I try to read and she puts her paw on the book, as if to say,..... Hello! This is about ME right?!!! I hope to see little ones soon......... |
after long waiting, my MeiMei had 4 furbabies ( 2 boys and 2 girls) yesterday,1 day pass her due date. :D |
the little ones are here.... and boy are they NOT little!!! NaTasha had 1 boy - 6.7oz ; 2 girls - 6.2 oz. and 5.6 oz. She is only a little over 5 lbs. and I had to completely pull the boy, he was the first puppy. But he, his sisters and his Mom all appear to be doing great!!! |
