Get your whelping box in place and all the instruments and special food you will need. You will need that box even if there is a C section. There are threads on here for whelping supplies, as well as the whelping pudding, etc. Hopefully you have also put aside the money for all the tests the pups will need and the meds. I do hope that you did all the health checks on your bitch and the sire. Given of course you had a small Yorkie with a collapsed trachea so you do know how important the health checks are. I assume the little one you will have to put to sleep is the male Yorkie with the collapsed trachea?? I am so sorry that this is the only option for this boy. |

Your Yorkie with the collapsed trachea is so young to be euthanized. Have you consulted a specialist? In most cases it can be managed medically with medications and bronchial dilators. In extreme cases surgery can be done. Tracheal Collapse |

No, I did not consult a specialist. Actually it was a realtives baby who I felt was not taking care of him so I took him. He has been in our home 2yrs now. I let the real owner keep him last year for a few months. When I went back I saw he was coughing sounding like a Duck and I knew something was wrong. That was when I took him back and took him to my Vet. He said his trachea had collapsed too close to his heart that he did not recommend surgery. Vet said he didnt even know of a Dr. who would perform this test because Cosmo (lil guy) chances of survival were so low. He sounded as if he had a greater chance in dieing from surgery then to limit his activities. He did give me pills (cough medicine) which does not help. Its hard to keep a lil dog who get excited over everything calm. We try our best though. Im glad my other yorkie (gezell) is very good with him. I do wish there was another way to keep him alive  I dread the day because I will not be able to do it. he is ok for now. I found this out in October and he has been so much better here then with his other mother. :) |

your use of "teacup" didn't offend me, it's just not correct :) I was mistaken when I was sold a "miniature" yorkie when I got my Joey (I too was very naiive in the same way). However, I do not agree with breeding a yorkie to a min pin...what's that doing to better a breed? Well, since it's a mixed breed puppy, nothing has been done to better either breed. though they may be cute, I feel that it wasn't ethical to do. I don't feel angry, only sad for the dogs in shelters that will lose their lives because people adopt your little guys...know what I mean? I would ask that you consider spaying your little girl once she has had this litter...but that decision is up to you, as they are your dogs :) |
:( Well we are down to 6 puppies...Gezell lost one. It is going through the absorption process. Just praying it does not infect the other puppies. I will find more out after her 3rd ultrasound on thursday..:( |
Oh so sorry she lost one. Hoping the rest will be OK. |
Day 54 Last week the vet decided she didnt need an ultrasound because she was getting bigger. We did an xray today which didnt really help. Vet said the puppies are all over the place so he couldnt tell how many were in there. Also that the skulls are big but in "his gut feeling" she will be able to give birth. She is huge and she looks miserable..poor baby! She is eating good tho :D |

How is she doing now? Do you know the distress signs of a labour gone wrong? Oh please let us know if she is okay |
distress she is doing good, just so big she looks miserable. Distress signs, i think im going to be imaging them. If she have a puppy then nothing after an hour of trying it is time for the Vet visit. If she hasnt had any I should look for what signs? If active labor and no sign of any puppies after an hour go to vet rt? Now I am nervous. I dont like seeing her in any pain. ughh wait til I get those adorable eyes looking at me for help. :( I wish I could take that pain for her. Anything else I should look for in signs of distress? I could use any bit of info. :) Quote:

??? Also, just wondering...can you tell if she is close to labor by milk in her teets? The vet said (which is no breeder) i would see more milk coming out when she is really close. Gezell does squat like she has to pee sometimes but does nothing. Does that mean anything? or is it because she is so big and her belly hangs? |
