Temp up & down and now she's not eating... The last few days Juliet's temp has been 100 (.3 .5 .1), last evening, it was 98.5 and 98.3 and then 2 hours later back to 99.8 and 100 even. We've been taking them at her calm times of the evening, but that was the first time it dropped like that. My question is, is it normal to go back UP like that? We will take it again in about 2 hours, as my husband will be home to help (she HATES it!). Is this a good indication that labor is impending? For those that don't know...she's 56 days with a litter of 7. I was really hoping she'd make it a few more days...I'd like them to cook a little longer. As well, she's not eating today...I did manage to get her to eat some of her food soaked in organic chicken broth, but not much, probably not even 2-3 tbsp worth, and I made her 1/4c. She has drank a little water, but again, not much. I am guessing that we're pretty close, but would love some more experienced members to give me their thoughts. As I type, she's doing circles in the dining room, and I am betting that she wants to go out back to dig some more... but her belly sort of prevents her from making it easily out the doggy door. She has a pee pad right next to it that she's using if I don't see her standing there to go out. :D PUPPY WATCH!!! :D |
lets hope she holds out a few more days. but if not.. it isn't all gloom and doom. I was so sure when Rainbow went into labor on day 57 that the puppies would not survive. But surprise.. they were 3.8 oz and 4.4 oz. good luck for a safe whelping |
It sounds like she is getting really close. She may hold out a few days yet. Please keep us posted and feel free to ask all the questions you need to:) |
Good luck, sounds like it's getting closer. I know nothing about breeding, but wonder if she might whelp early due to having the large litter of 7? She must be getting uncomfortable. |
Thanks all! Still watching her very closely...she's peeing often but not "a lot" each time...and sleeping a lot too. I am really hoping she makes it to at least Friday...Saturday would be better, and obviously Monday would be PERFECT. I was able to get her to eat a little more, but still not much. She probably didn't even eat 1/2c of food today. Is it too soon for whelping pudding? |
That is great she is still keeping them babies in. The whelping pudding us usually giving between pups and after the whelp, this is my understanding of it. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...g-recipes.html |
Good luck to you and Juliet. With all you've been saying it DOES sound like labor is on it way (or in progress that we can't see). She's got all the signs, however they do sometimes fool us for a day or two. A friend just went through the "is she in labor?" deal in the last couple of days before finally having pups last night. But since Juliet is having such a large litter, it is not uncommon for them to whelp a bit earlier; the lack of appetite and even more so, the wanting to dig, and the pottying often but not alot, all sound VERY familiar from when Halle had her singleton last fall. I'd guess Juliet's time is getting close. Good luck! I'll be watching for the news. |
To whelp or not to whelp...... I am in the same situation, kiwi's tempeture fell yesterday morning so I have been waiting and waiting and waiting, did not sleep at all last night thinking that she was ready to whelp but is almost one in the afternoon and nothing, she is not eating but she is acting like nothing is going on, just grawling at the other dogs in the house, but she goes outside to do her bussines and comes back to her box like nothing. I don't know how much more is this going to take, I all ready missed two days of school waiting for her, I wonder that if I go today she will have the babies when I am not here. I am scared to go, what if something goes wrong and she is alone?......don't know what to do. |
Yep...she had them early this morning!! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...e-all-7-a.html |
