Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() I have posted about this before but I was hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. My mom has bred Burmese kittens and Miniature Schnauzers in the past and I remember our dogs going onto heat and the signs etc but now I am personally faced with it. My 7 1/2 months old female has not been spayed yet and she seems to be going into heat but I have not seen any swelling as yet. I know from other posts I have read that swelling may not always occur or even be slight so that you don't notice it. Yesterday my fiance notice small drops of what looked like blood on the floor and she has been licking a lot more than usual. So we have presumed she is coming into heat and taken the necessary measures to keep her safe. However she seems to not be able to hold her bladder as well as she should. I know excessive urination is also part of the heat but is this normal? She has finally got the hang of going to the bathroom outside and hardly ever goes inside unless it's an emergency. But the other evening she was lying with me on the sofa and just weed while she was lying there and then shot out the door all embarrassed. Yesterday she weed on the bed the same way. She never squatted and it wasn't deliberate of course. She seemed to not even realise she had done it. Then last night we were watching her and as she was walking she was weeing. She will squat and have a wee but afterwards she continues to wee often while she is walking. She seems very confused and restless, and I was wondering if this urination of hers is related to the heat. Because if not then I feel I should have the vet check her out. Any ideas?

| ![]() It sounds more like a bladder infection to me. My yorkie was in heat just a while ago--her privates were swollen, very sleepy, cranky, hungry, then a few drops of blood to start...by day 4 lots..then tapered back down. She ate and drank a lot, but, no accidents or unusual wetting. So that concerns me a little. It wouldn't be bad to have a vet check. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() The vet says it's best to come and have her looked at becasue it's not normal for her to be doing this. She might have a bladder infection ![]()

| ![]() Yes sounds like an infecion. I hope it's nothing more serious. Is there a reason why she has not been spayed? |
