Alright, time to close this one down. I would not mind a Parti colored Yorkie as long as it was healthy, and for $3000 it came from a line of Champions, was tested, guaranteed, and came with a diamond Studded collar, and Breeding right! Not that I am a breeder, but for that price, he must be stud worthy. |

The reason the partis are higher in price is because of supply and demand. Recently the demand decreased due to the economy and the sipply increased because there are a lot more breeders. So prices are about half what they used to be. |
Thanks Jeanie. I do recall seeing prices of 6-7,000 and I thought they were a rare breed. Did not mean to get a few so riled up. I will continue to ask questions, and if a [erson can't handle it, put me on ignore. I can live with that! |

Some peoople drive chevys some people drive Caddis. Both vehicles will get you where you want to go, but some people just prefer caddis. |
Caddy's are for folks in Sun City....well, unless it has a "V" after the name! 556 HP and Supercharged! |
Jeanie, you have some really outstanding looking Yorkies. Thanks for the professional reply. |

There is absolutely NO reason in the world that there cannot be more than one color for yorkies. Many breeds have multiple color categories, and they all coexist peacefully. If the YTCA is really concerned, they would embrace the colors varieties and set the standards for them, thereby having complete control. I feel it is only a matter of time before they get someone in there that has figured that out. |

I have to ask, since you have given so many car references, what do you drive? You don't have to answer (I'm not trying to be rude), I consider myself a car person and like the ones you have mentioned. I think we need a car person's thread on here ;) Back on topic, I love the parti's, and hope to have one someday. |

Now, my wife drives a 09 BMW 135 Convert, I have a 08 Corvette Z06, and we share a 09 Subaru Outback Turbo for chores and to haul the big dog around in. My next vehicle will be the GT-R. Twin Turbo and All Wheel Drive. I have had a bunch of cars over the years. My biggest mistake is when I bought a 67 427 Stingray Convert from a Marine buddy for $1600.00 back in 73, and sold it several years later when my oldest daughter was born. Have had Pontiacs, Chevy's, Dodges, Jeeps (Had a 07 Jeep SRT and a 07 Dodge Superbee # 498) Honda's, Mercedes, BMW's, even an old Opel Manta. |

The variety is there and the AKC has accepted the fact that the color occurs naturally, and people will always be breeding for that color. So if the YTCA is concerned that the traditionl color will be phased out, then why not accept the other colors and put their standards on them. That way they would have control over all yorkies. Because just as with a pack of dogs, someone is going to take control, and if isn't the parent club, then somone else will and they might not like the end result. Personally, it scares me what some people are trying to do with the partis. I would prefer that the parent club take control as to leave it to some of these people. |

The YTCA has "no control" over yorkies or breeders, only the standard, and they have taken control of it, and that's exactly what some people don't like. I think they to try to educate the public on why something isn't good for the breed, and some people will listen and others won't. I agree with you on being scared about what some people are doing to Parti's, but I fully understand why the mother club doesn't want to accept this fault. Do you think these other breeders would listen to the YTCA anyway? They don't now, so why would they in the future? I also personally believe that even if the mother club did accept the parti color, there would be some new thing that would develop and be called "rare", and a buzz would be created for that. Lets face it, with the right marketing a dog can be sold for so much more, but again, selling isn't the purpose of a breed club. The members are not trying to supply the pet market, but are acting as conservators for the breed. On the question concerning cars, I drive a red one! :D |
[QUOTE=shodanusmc;3065683]Sure, I am a car nut! My favorite car was a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner 440 6-pack that I bought new when I left active duty the first time, and used it for college. Got all of 10 MPG and cost me $500 to fill it up. My husband is a car nut as well. He used to have a 1964 Chevy Impala hardtop 327 with a power glide transmission. He sold it to pay for our wedding. Now he has a 1974 Chevy Impala custom 2 door coupe with a 350 in it. He is a big Chevy fanatic. :) |
