I need your advice now please !!! Hey guys, I really need someone to help me with this one. I have a female yorkies that has had a litter with my male 3 times, I have since gotten another male for a present and he is just a puppy 10 months old. My female went into heat and hooked with my older male like she usually does, Someone told me the other male is still a puppy and dont worry about him, He cant hook up with her. WRONG. They were all quiet and I went into the other room and the little PUPPY was hooked to her!!!!! WHAT do I do???? I keep the little puppy upstairs away from them now, BUT he is going out of his mind, my female is upset because she wants him around too!!! WOW I am so worried about this? Someone told me that the puppy does not have quality sperm at that age and I should not worry about it. But I dont want these 2 males to be jumping my girl........ WHAT CAN I DO, PLEASE HELP ME....... I am confused and I dont want her upset or injured?????? |
You are going to have to seperate them from now on. Even though he is 10 months old he CAN get her pregnant. If I am correct you can have the pups in for a DNA test. You will have to do the same with your males. I would rather have my female a bit upset, having her mate with all the males in the house is not the way to go. |

I dont mind having to DNA test them all if that is what I need to do. Is this going to hurt my female in anyway? Will they be normal puppies or deformed? I dont want anything to happen to my female, she is my world. She has had 3 litters all of them were 4 puppies in each litter, very healthy puppies. She is a self whelper and a very good girl. I dotn want anything to go wrong for her????? Do yout hink she will be o.k./??? |

With you having a female having 3 prior litters, I am a bit confused as to why you weren't taking precautions with the 10 month old anyway. |
The DNA testing will have to be done on both the males and the litter. But, a must if you want the litter to AKC registered. The 10 month old puppy is very viable. AKC rules state a litter under the age of 7 months can not be registered. And many breeders prove their males beginning at that age. |

I had a mentor once tell me it was ok to breed my 6 month old:eek: Needless to say she is no longer my mentor:) |
I asked the breeder that my husband got the puppy from about them being together, She said she never had a puppy even get interested in breeding until after a year old and that dont worry about separating him. I did call her a minute ago and she was surprised that he tied with her. She said she has never had a puppy do that, He comes from lines that produce Yorkies on the small to average size she said she has the mom, dad , grandfather, grandmother, all of them are between 3 and 5.5 lbs. Her litters that she has had are between the same. My other male and my female have had puppies that are on the average size 4-6 lbs. So I guess I didnt take any precautions for 2 reasons, 1) I trusted the advice of the breeder 2.) I have never had 2 male sand a female toegther and didnt expect this to happen. Now I am very stressed out that something bad might happen to my girl. She is a good dog and I dont want her hurt. She is going nuts now, the little male is upstairs and she is downstairs in the livingroom and the other male is in the other bedroom, All of them are NOT happy with me right now..... |

One of my girls came into Season when one of her pups were 5 months old. Since I check my girls almost daily....when I noticed she was pink and began swelling, I removed her son from her. |
The male that I have is 3lbs 9oz and has not gained a ounce since I got him, I had him weighed 2 days ago and he weighs the same. It is like time stood still for him, He has not changed at all. He eats his food and he very active and healthy. |

I am surprised the breeder would say that about his age. I have had 6-11 month old males "try", not that I let them succeed, but my point is, it can happen and does! |
Mardelin I have read and watched your posts for a long time, and I truly value your opinion. I dont think this lady knew what she was talking about, Nor do I think she has been breeding for a long time. You on the other hand are very knowledgable and it shows in your threads and answers to us newbies that need someone with the intelligence to help us along. So thank you for your information. Do you think the female is in any danger having been with 2 males???? I dont mind DNA testing the males and the litter that is not a problem. He only was with her the one time that I caught her and has been separated since. Now that I separated the other male from her, she is not happy with me. Do I keep them separated for the whole heat cycle and them see if she is pregnant? I am sure that my older male has tied with her and she is pregnant. He has never missed yet. The little boy that tied with her was on her for about well less than 30 seconds and they were untied, my other male well he is stuck for a long time with her. |
