I think I pm'd you info but Jeff Dane is very bad news. I wish your friend luck with her puppy...She may be one of the lucky ones and have a healthy puppy - but he is NOT a good site to buy from

today's the day! she should get her pup later today from the airport. i'll surely keep you posted.

I wish her luck! Hopefully she'll get a healthy pup, but I must tell you that I had a bad experience with www.puppyfind.com. The "breeder" (who I ended up finding out later was a broker for puppymill puppies) said she would send the bill of sale, contract, and health guarantee with the pup. Well, she didn't and he ended up being very sick. The woman changed her telephone number and is nowhere to be found. The vets we went to when Miko was a pup told us that they didn't think he would survive, but we weren't about to give up on our baby...We attacked his infections with antibiotics, force-fed him, and made sure he was hydrated at all times. I'm so thankful that he is still alive and that he is healthy now! He's almost 1.5 yrs old right now.

this is like trying to shop on Ebay in a way. before bidding/buying it's good to check-out a person's feedback/reputation. all of this has been excellent information for me for the future.

i'm terribly sorry folks have had bad experiences w/these on-line breeders but i'm so thankful for the warnings. i think we could all help future Yorkie owners make better, informed decisions/choices.

PS i'm glad your baby made it!!! whoohooo!! :thumbup:

the puppy arrived via American Airlines yesterday. i've not seen her yet but the new owner said she is adorable. :) according to the papers she was born June 22. she's about 2 pounds....tiiiiiiiiiiiineeeeeeeeeeeey.

she was give 3 business days to get a full physical from her vet. so far she seems in good health except for a small lump near her genitalia area. i reckon it's a hernia. she'll keep me posted.

if this in fact is a hernia will breeding be problem (does anyone know) ?

The fact that she is only 2 lbs at 4 months and tiny and (I am assuming) that the complete health history of her lineage is unknown are breeding problems.

congrats on the new kid, at 4.5 months old and 2 lbs I doubt she will be larger enough to breed. The hernia could be an umbilical hernia which can be repaired at the time of spaying (if its small). Most vet will tell you it's an inherited occurance and the bitch shouldnt be bred. Larger hernias are considered life threatening, cutting the umbilical cord too short is a misconception as to the cause of a hernia.

If she has a lump near her vaginal area, it very well could be an adominal hernia. Those are hereditary so she'd never be good for breeding even if she got to the correct size. :thumbdown

okay...good information. i'll certainly keep you posted. this is NOT looking good :( apparently, she wrote the breeder and asked him about it. he said, "it's no big deal". we'll see...

I am so sorry to hear that she went ahead and bought the puppy. Obviously, she will not listen to any one but one thing is certain...that baby should never be used for breeding. No health history; most likely a brokered puppy; an inguinal hernia which is most likely genetic; a biggy is her small size..My goodness, I so hope that she has better luck than most people who buy from that person...

you are SO right. i think she's paying the price now. i just got an email from her confirming she's not taken her in to see a vet yet. it looks like she may go see mine in the next day or so. i w/you. i don't think she should nor will she be able to breed this little girl.

if it comes down to it, i'd take her and raise her. to be continued...

This could possibly be an inguinal hernia. Is it in the groin area? There's no doubt that the breeder knew it was there. Shame, shame on him. If this is in the groin, it can be repaired easy enough but now the poor dog has to have surgery and this also cost money not to mention that any surgery is hard on a puppy. The puppy will most likely come out fine but I still can't believe the breeder went ahead and sent a 2 lb puppy with a hernia. If this is all that's wrong with the puppy then it should live a long healthy life. Any name picked out yet?

she has a cute little name for her but i can't remember it right now. i just sent her an email checking in on her.

at this point it's like there are 2 strikes against breeding the pup. she's too small AND she has a hernia.

personally, i don't believe she's even close to breeding an animal. i've tried to mentor her and am making strides slowly w/her. it's really hard when folks don't listen. instead of washing my hands of her i need to take it slow and easy. in the meantime i don't think she's got a breedable pup.

i have a mentor and she's TOUGH. but i have thick skin and have been doing this for quite some time. (i'm never too old to learn more)

i'll surely keep you updated as to what i hear from her. :)
