Buyer be Aware of who you are buying that "cute" puppy from? Hi All, Other than putting in my ad regarding my yorkie for sale, I really don't write a lot on these forums. I am usually reading the valuable information you share with all of us yorkie parents out there. Many of you have been around for years and have seen the good and unfortunately the bad intentions of others involving the raising/breeding/selling and buying these beautiful, sweet dogs. I think I have been under a rock. I personally have always prided myself to be an honest-respectful and responsible breeder. I surround myself with people with those qualities. I have ALWAYS expected others to live by those rules when it comes to breeding an animal. (Yes, I have been under a pretty big rock..) It has taken me years of visiting breeders, finding a reputiable mentor, educating myself-listening to others and the ability to have the time and money involved to even consider becoming a breeder. I do it for the love and betterment of the breed NOT the money. Any breeder doing it for the right reasons will tell you that it is not about Money....you spend more than you ever put back in your pocket. It makes me so happy to find that right person who will give my little one the love and attention she deserves. I do my research on that person also. Yesterday, I received a call from a local breeder that asked me if I was willing to "trade" my puppy for a dog she wanted to sell. I told her that was out of the question! I was curious as to why a breeder was calling a stranger and making an offer like this. This woman has been breeding yorkies for years and I remind you (she has a nice website, on google and several other legitiment sites.) She told me she adopts yorkies from a shelter for a fee then turns around and sells them on sites including yorkie talk-and makes several hundred dollars selling them to a person who see a cute dog at a great price and listens to a fictious history and once again...what a great deal!! It is so sad. The dog may have been abused and neglected, scared of children or other animals and they will probably end up at another shelter before long. She is also buying very cute yorkies with (AKC papers) from Mexico. I wonder if the akc paper work is fraudulent....hmmm...i vote yes....would the buyer do their homework and call AKC? I always remind my buyers just because a dog is registered AKC does not mean that the dog cannot pass down congenital problems, temperment issues....etc She buys these babies for $ 400 and sells them for $800-$1,000. Great deal eh?? The buyers love the pups face, the kisses and the snuggling...chaa ching...she has a buyer. Chances are this baby will end up sick. No history...no research...it is the fault of the seller and the buyer. She is breeding some of her own yorkies When questioning her further...she says the father is "ummm at a friends house and he is getting his akc this week." She also sells, biewers, poodles, morkies...too many to list...do you see this on her site....no you don't...if you DON'T do your research you never will. It is frustrating...to see this happening. She and (many other "so called breeders") are putting these poor yorkies through hell to make a buck to satisfy that rotating door of buyers who don't bother to do some research and are convinced they are getting the deal of a lifetime. I told her that my business was based on integrity. To be able to look a buyer in the eye with no hesitation and know that they are getting a fair and honest deal. My dogs come from a happy home, lots of hugs with clean bill of health a legitiment family history and parents who will greet them at the door. Is the price "cheap?" No it is fair. I have a bottom line and will never go below that. My dogs are not a "blue light special." Anyone who comes over to look at my pup and says I love him BUT there is a lady with some cute AKC pups that are selling much cheaper across town....I shake my head...tell them good luck...be careful and show them the door. After talking with her...I took a long shower...I felt sick.....yep...I have been under a rock....I wish I could stay that...tx for the time...hope this helps someone? Sorry for the spelling errors....writing from the heart...and have left my spellcheck off... vicki |
Nothing surprises me anymore. People will sell their own soul if they could make a $. After posting that info here on YT I think you should also tell us who this so-called breeder is. Warning us is good however who are we being warned about? |
It's very disturbing to think that a YT member is doing this. Please tell us which member you're warning us about? |
I agree with Archie and bonbon, you should expose this money hungry breeder to us... shameful. |
how sick! Pls tell us who this breeder is? PM us if need be... |

Maybe its her she said she has puppies, and she didn't come back |
me three...:D:D I want to know ... |
Wow, unbelievable! And a YT member at that! Very disgusting! Taking in sheltered yorkies then reselling them as if they were hers and making a profit, is asinine! SHAME! SHAME! |
Breeders Business I appreciate all your responses. Like I said in my letter I am honest and will tell you exactly how I feel about this. My concern is if I put her business out there after speaking to her 45 minutes on the phone and Telling her if she does NOT turn this situation around she is going to have some major problems (me). Yes the whole thing makes me sick...all about greed and not caring about what is best for her pups. So I guess, I need some help here. Should I put the name out there and end her business...? I wrote this letter out of the frustration of what MANY breeders are doing. I was trying to get across to the buyer to check these breeders out! Ask questions, check out their house, if they have more than one breed get the heck out of there. Get the AKC Litter number, run it through AKC....get the pedigree on the dog, do the research on it. I know the majority of you know all this and those who do- are the respectable breeders who you should buy a dog from. If the buyer does the homework there is no way in their right mind they would buy a dog from her. |
Well, I'm so glad you came out from under the rock. I lived under a rock for many years too, and it's easier living under the rock, and just thinking the best things about people and their motives. However, dog breeding is too important, we all need to climb out from under those rocks. I see members recommending breeders who have no idea what their breeding program is all about or have never visited the house. People seem to think if someone seems nice in threads or through emails or on the phone, they are a wonderful ethical breeder. Unfortunately we have many more greeders than breeders. Hope no one throws stones at you for telling the truth. |
I think everyone NEEDS to know who this person is. |
What a tough situation for you but I believe if you really want this to stop then you have to say who the breeder is. Sadly we talk about this all the time on YT but we see members, even members who have been here a long time still buy from bad breeders as apparently they can't figure out who is a unethical breeder. Please do the right thing for these little ones as they cannot speak out for themselves. Help shut down this breeder....we can only do it one at a time. |
