HELP my 2 1/2 lb may be preg?
 

HI, All My 10 month old 2 1/2 lb yourkie was with my friend while I was away . he had her in his yard and I never leave her out ever and he said he left her out for ten min. well when he went out to get her he said the dog next door was mounting her yes she was in heat and the other dog is a s**tz zu who is 13 years old and 16 lbs I do not know but her nipples are starting to swell . what can I do? can she have an abortion? as the pups will be to big to pass but I knew a woman of chis who had a 17 lb male and a 4 lb female and there where no problems . I paid 4000 for her AKC full breeding rights and I do not want her spayed i want to breed her to my male who is 3 and only 2 lbs. I wanted to wait till she hit 4 lbs but now what do I do? is there a shot to abort the pups? if she is preg she is about 4 weeks . please help me thank you

I would get her to the vet immediately! Pups to a 16# dog could kill her.

Go have her spayed now. I don't think she will make it to 4 pounds and even at that is way to small to breed. If you don't you may lose her.

The dog is a Shih tzu.

If you dont want to chance her dying, get her to a vet and have her spayed immediately. She should have been spayed already as she is 10 months and less than 3 lbs!! I know nothing about breeding, but I know that is a big no no!

I certainly hope you will take the advice you are given and you will receive the same advice from everyone!
She needs to be spayed! She is too small to breed to any size dog, let alone a dog that is 16lbs and 13yrs old.
Please do not risk the life of this little one and take her to your vet ASAP!

Have her spayed, immediately if at ALL possible. At 10 -11 months, and 2 1/2lbs, your girl will never be big enough to be safely bred. Why have you let her go 4 weeks now, surely you were not hoping to complete this pregnancy?:eek: If you continue with this, you may lose more than breeding ability, you may very well lose your little girl!

And, who ever sold you this dog with full breeding rights, should not be breeding!:(

for anyone thinking they can 'make' this kind of money breeding/ selling puppies.. do your homework - you can ask 'ethical' breeders - yorkies are NOT selling for this kind of money - getting gouged by a 'breeder' doesn't make a puppy any better than a REGULAR Priced dog. It's ridiculous.

this whole thing is wrong on so many levels - no offense to the original poster - but you really need to listen to everyone if you want your female to live.

Have her spayed now! Your little girl will never make through the delivery. There is no shot that will make her abort, especially if she's 4 weeks along.

You've got to be kidding me. First of all she will be too small to breed. She may not even hit 4 lbs. and even at 4 lbs. that's small. And, you don't leave something that tiny outdoors alone, even for a minute, a hawk or another type of prey can grab her. It's happened many times. I'm not saying anymore on here or I'll get myself in trouble. I'm with Vett. Im stepping away from this whole thing.

I agree...this is bull****. This is the OP's first post and they posted in the breeder section....Come On! :eek: I was on here several weeks before I knew there was a breeder thread. Someone is just trying to start another drama thread. I'll go start the popcorn...who wants extra butter?;)

It could be, but in the past there have been several that have come on here with the same situation at hand. Their little one may have not been this small but, same scenario "My Lil One Might be pregnant".

A few have stayed and taken all the advise given to them, other's have not taken the advise and ended up in tragedy.

To the OP -- you have been given some solid life saving advice from several of our well-respected, very knowledgeable breeders. I hope that you take their advice to heart and take your little one to the vet immediately to schedule a spay.

You're right Mary. We can't assume that every time someone comes on here with one post that they're trying to start drama - otherwise, the few (or even one) that really need the help won't get it. Please try to give people the benefit of the doubt until there's reason to believe otherwise.

Speaking for myself - I came on here looking for information because I'd never owned a toy breed. So I was able to sit back and read. At least the OP came on here looking for advice - better late than never. I know some of the questions people ask "get old" but it's not to the newcomer.

To the original poster.... PLEASE take your girl in and have the puppies aborted right away - every day that you delay makes it worse for your little one. I think you already know in your heart that she isn't going to be able to have these - they're just too large - it really could kill her.

I hope you come back and continue to read throughout the threads - there is so much important information here that even your vet probably isn't aware of. There are very experienced breeders and people that have been raising Yorkies for years - here. Don't be afraid to ask - anything.

My thoughts exactly!!! I'm fostering a 16 pound Shi-Tzu (female) right now, and there is no way that weight could be supported on a 2 1/2 pound dog. Shi-Tzu's have short legs, and cannot stand upright over the other dog. Then even IF they managed, it would tear the tiny dog's insides up. Who in their right mind would even leave a little dog that's coming in heat with ANYONE!!! Sorry, I don't buy this persons story at all!

I try not to blow off posts....even those that are suspicious, for the dog's sake. This one, however, just reeks. The OP came on and posted once and nothing since. That, in spite of several replies within just a few minutes. Looks like 'drive-by posting' to me and I'm staying away from this one.

If that is what it was a "drive-by posting" that is just pure evil. So many caring people on here willing to help. I guess you just never know if someone is being honest or not. I still keep the faith that most are honest because I would hate to dismiss the real thing.

I'm inclined to think (and hope) that this is a joke...just someone here to stir up trouble. There are so many problems with the post, from the dogs age, to weight, to the size of the male, etc that SURELY it can't be 'for real.'

Yes you are probably right Elaine. I paid 1200.00 for Kizzie 4 years ago with full registration. She was supposed to be 6 pounds. I knew at 10 months she was never going to be anywhere near that.

Because I am a responsible person/owner/breeder, I had her spayed as soon as she hit 2 pounds at 10 months BEFORE her first heat. She is now 4 and 3 1/2 pounds. I love her to death..

Do you know how hard it is to find a female that is going to be large enough to breed? It is very frustrating because everywhere I look all I see is these tiny little girls.

I believe Gracie and Pennie might be large enough because of their weight's now. Pennie is 5 months old and is over 3 pounds and Gracie is 10 months and is over 4 pounds. So hopefully by the time they are 2 they will be filled out more and large enough. If not, oh well I guess. I know they sure aren't big enough now.

The breeder's I got them from breed "normal" sized females and males. Both Pennie's parents are 6 pounds. I do not have a male yet and don't really want to get one until I know if mine will be large enough.

The breeder I got Gracie from has a very nice stud for sale who is 4 1/2 pounds and is 2 years old. Proven, DNA done and other tests as well, champion sired and champion lines. $1000.00 for him, I would love to get him. But keep telling myself to wait...lol

I have a 4 1/2 month old yorkie baby that is 1.2 lbs...if she made it to 2lbs or whatever your dog weights I would never breed her unless I wanted to kill her.

THAT is a death sentence for your small baby. If you care about her spay her and keep her as a pet...abort this pregnancy. Especially since the other dog is like 100x her size that is pure craziness.

Others who breed to get smaller yorkies know what they are doing and have been doing this for years upon years. This is an area where you cannot just jump in and think of mating a 2lb dog to get a 2lb baby. Just doesn't work that way. Much more is involved.

Which is why we see soooo many sick puppies and people with broken hearts. I noticed it's always an accident or someone elses fault when these tiny ones end up pregnant way way too young too.

YorkieRose - I hope what you said is true and maybe it IS bait. I didn't know it may not be physically possible - but in the dog world - I would think a male would find a way no ?
