was it the breeder i thought it was that was on the news awhile back?[/QUOTE] Nope..... |
here is story Yorkshire terrier thief gets 8 years - Los Angeles Times does this look like the breeder as then months after this they were on news for having a puppy mill in little rock http://network.bestfriends.org/6534/news.aspx |
This asian couple had stores in Tarzana, Beverly Hills, and their house in Los Angeles as well as a Home in Little Rock/Apple Valley all fronts for this puppy mill and it is still operating they probably call it another name now as they got to keep the dogs only had to get rid of a certain number to stay legal |
I really don't know. It has no sound and I just can't see their faces well enough to tell. Is there any way to get their names? Quote:

I sure hope she was correct in her diagnosis of sarcoptic mange since she gave her Ivermectin and plans to again. She does itch terrtibly with her hind legs at her ears (that is why I was mainly so concerned on top of the dandruff.) She does not appear to have much dandruff now if any. Just very thin hair up there, it also is gray so that makes it look even balder. I took her to a Holistic Vet today. He was not at all happy at her foot. It is now swolen (it was not prior to the splint and bandage), it now has necrotic tissue and sores. I am happy I went to him because he gave me a shampoo to safely bathe her in every 3 days, a natural antibiotic for her foot and also some liquid to rub onto her foot 3 times a day. I am afraid she would have ended up with a very bad infection if I did nothing as the VEt teacher vet said to do. I hadn't even noticed how swolen it had become since I am not holding like I used to. All of this just sooo sucks! But I honestly believe that if I didn't buy Molly, she would be dead by now. Quote:

Please do, I would really like to know. I also know the Asian mans last name now thanks to someone on here. Quote:

I think my description is just like what they say here at your link for Sarcoptic mange: Sarcoptic Mange is the less serious, yet highly Contagious, type of mange. Sarcoptic mange, aka "Scabies," has zoonotic potential, which means you can get it from your pet. Mange in humans is easier to get rid of. Also known as 'red fox mange' or 'wombat mange,' sarcoptic mange is much easier to cure than Demodectic mange because the sarcoptic mite doesn't burrow as deep into the skin of your pet. http://www.k911.biz/Petsafety/Mange_scarcoptic.jpg However, the mites do cause extreme itching, followed by flaky or scabby dandruff and loss of hair Quote:

We had just the regular skin mites I was telling you about and Pennie lost A LOT of hair. So Molly will probably lose more hair before this is all said and done. Here are pics of Pennie when I first got her and then after she was well again but had lost so much hair. I will have to take new pics, it is still like that, verrrrry slow growing back. Yes, all of this stinks. I will be happy when/if this is over. The ivermectin by the way she gave her was an oral dose. Not in the shot form. I hope it is as effective. I am thinking she should get at least 3 of them each 2 weeks apart if not 4 by what I have read on the drug and this mange. Quote:

And then I got some help from a yorkie breeder who has helped tons of people with their little ones. I did everything she told me to and by the next day Pennie was obviously feeling better. We did liver juice and pedialite and some other things. Then we got the giardia diagnosis and got her on those meds and she is thriving at 5 months. Wow, I cannot believe she is already 5 months old! Last time I weighed her, a few weeks ago, she was 2.8 pounds so I am pretty sure she is 3 pounds by now. :) |
Breeder Letter Well.... my letter was sent out today via Certified mail to the breeders. Wish me luck and pray that they send me a check. Otherwise, off to court we go! |
I am so sorry for your terrible experience with your new baby. I purchased a poodle that had the s. mange/mites. We had her treated and a couple of weeks later I started getting red itchy rashes on my arm and thigh. I went to the doctor and nothing came to mind until they asked if we had any new animals. Yeap, Keisha, I had to treat myself as if I had head lice. The doctor told me I didn't have to treat my hair that the mites wouldn't travel beyond my neck. I then had to sanitize everything. The carpets had to be professionaly cleaned with water that was a temp of 180 degrees. My daughter had not really held her that much because the night we brought Keisha home she itched, I was told it was dry skin and their vet checked her out and should be clearing up in a couple of days. When I seeked relief with the vet bills they only could give me another pup from a future litter. When I checked out the legal action I could take, I was told I could sue for the return of the purchase price but would have to return the dog. I could try to get the vet bills paid, but if they were over the purchase price, I would still have to return the dog. This was in TN and about 20 yrs ago. I did take the other pup with the intentions of selling her but kept her. Keisha lived to be 16 human years and the other girl Sheba lived to be 12 human years and brought much joy to us. I only paid $250.00 for Keisha back then . As I am typing this, I have started itching. That stuff is bad, and I hope you get the help you deserve with the bills. |

Thank you. We have had her since the end of December and none of us have gotten a rash nor itched. Except my son had something on his cheek which went away a week later. Not sure if that was it. I have been told and read that they cannot live on humans and though they can cause a miserable rash, it goes away on it's own on humans. ANd that it is not necessary to environmentally treat the house since the mites do not live there long without a host. We are quarantining Molly in her playpen and crate and only I touch her and where gloves when I do. I have washed all the bedding and vacuumed everything and mopped. But I think we are all ok. Just need to keep treating Molly and hopefully in a month or 2 this will be all behind us! I can't wait to hold her and lover her like normal again. We are all so sad and miss playing and holding her. She would normally be sitting on my lap as I type this. :( Quote:

Lol! I itched a bit when I first heard. But then realized it was all in my head!! Evertime I have slight itch now, I start to freak and then I calm myself. hahaha So far we are fine. Knock on wood! But we were really holding and touching and kissing her before we knew and never got a thing. So I think we should be safe now. Quote:

My problem was I would hold Keisha to keep her from scratching herself to death. I got her on a Friday afternoon and the vet wasn't in until Monday, so I held her the whole weekend and it was summer so it was hot and humid. Mine didn't show up for a couple of weeks. I just thought I had gotten into some posion ivy or something. Until the rashes started moving around. The mites actually get under the first layer of skin and in the pores. There are alot of factors that effect each and every case and I don't think you are as extreme as our case was. I now will not ever buy a puppy unless I see its mom and dad and the conditions it lives is. These people had the puppy inside the house and told me the kennel the mom and dad was in was outback and with the rain the backyard was so muddy you couldn't get to it without sinking down into the mud. They had to put on their boots to get there. Yea, I was 26 and had never bought a puppy before. I now know better. We learn with experiences. |
I actually did see the supposed mom and dad and was inside the house they said the puppies live in. It seemed clean enough to me. But I did not see the rooms where they got the dogs from. They even brought me some rice and chicken that they cook for them. I really sensed that that is where they lived. I never would have believed the puppies had such issues. I even took a picture of the supposed dad and I didn't like the moms haircut at all!! |

I am so very sorry that you, your family and poor little Molly are going through this. I am praying that she gets through this quickly so she can once again feel your loving arms around her. It must be so very hard for you, not only worrying about your family but also not being able to hold, play and love Molly all over like you would like to.:( You sound like a wonderful Yorkie "mommy" and Molly is so very lucky to have found you. I will continue my prayers for a speedy "recovery" from this. |
Any update on this story?! |
FROM DIXIES MOM: " First of all you have to notify the breeder and give them a chance to make it right. If this fails contact the BBB, they can at times mediate between the parties, If that fails, contact the Attorney General they also will mediate between the two parties. If this fails, file in small claims court. All of this is done in the county of the breeder. If you follow these steps you will be able to show the courts you have tried in good faith several times, to resolve this." ......... This is very important to show you have made an effort in good faith, to resolve the issue with the breeder. THEN, if the breeder is uncooperative or unwilling to try to resolve the issue with you, proceed with your course of action. I do not believe it would be prudent, AT THIS TIME, to publically chastize the breeder, before you "give her enough rope to hang herself", so to speak. YOU try to resolve the issue with her, THEN if she does not cooperate, nail her. You do not want to give her the opportunity to come back on you with a "defamation of character" suit. I would think she would have some kind of recourse if you potentially "ruin her business and livelyhood" without "giving her a chance to make it right". I am playing devils advocate here....I feel horrible for you and this breeder should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. |
Small claims court would be my suggestion. Put everything in writing like you planned on doing. If you could afford to have a lawyer draft up a letter with your demands that would probably go a long way into convincing the breeder to do the right thing. Than again, maybe not! Seeing as how they sold you a very sick pup and probably knew it. Hopefully by moving forward with demanding compensation you will get some type of repayment for all of the medical bills you obtained by caring for this sick pup. Once you get things settled rather in or out of court than put them on Blast...I would do anything and everything I could to shut them down. Find others who have had problems with them and go to your local news. Call the BBB and I would certainly contact your local Humane Society.... I have a feeling that you have a long road/process ahead of you. It wont be easy I'm sure. But well worth it, if by doing so. These people are put out of business!! Even if you didn't get a dime, It would be worth it. |
This thread is from 2010..... |
Oh well ... I got about half way through and than I had to add my two cents worth ! Would love to hear what happened after she sent the letter. |
She will most likely get her hair back. I had a lab that had that & he looked terrible......but months later he looked great. Have you contacted the ASPCA to turn them in. I would think about it if you haven't already. Hang in there ............you are a special person to do all you have for this baby. God will reward you for your love & compassion...........And she will give you so much love when she can........... |
