Ask your sister to do some research on it and she will learn that this should not be done. She evidently has no idea that there is anything wrong with it. I'm sure she'll change her mind once she has the facts. |

im not one to say no just for age................BUT.............the fact that she has never been bred,..................she could throw bad or dead eggs............why put her through the breeding process ..........which can be stressful to some females anyways at this age..........just to be honest........her chances of getting preggy are very slim if she hasnt had a litter before.......also she has a higher risk of throwing pups if she does actually get preggy that are deformed or have serious health issues......so i also............which is strange cause i dont usually chime in on these things...........i also say NO for this situation.......you should find her a nice 2-3 year old female with a great blood line........help her research and go from there if she is really wanting to start breeding.............i have been researching and learning under a mentor for over 2 years now............and im still learning................good luck |

And by the way: " females dogs do not go through menopause though sometimes there may be a cessation in heat cycles for a period of time and then they can start back up again." So you should really get her spay. |
So glad she won't breed her. It is to old. I was in the vet office a few years ago and they had a yorkie having pups in the waiting room. She had 3 when I was there and all born stillborn. When I went in to see the vet he told me the yorkie was 7 years old and was very upset they had breed her. |

~I retire my girls at 5 years old and than they get spayed. I don't know of any breeder that would breed an 8 1.2 year old. I would not put my moms in DANGER!!!!!! Or the Puppies for that matter. Any older than that isn't safe for mom or puppies. I would get her spayed....NOW!!! It would be like a 59-60 year old women getting pregnant. Please tell your sister how dangerous it is. |

I would never, i mean : NEVER, try to breed any female older 6 even if she has had litters before or not, if she has excellent health or is the best show dog ever. And i am answering for me, and at least 5 more experienced , very very experienced breeders in my own family. I learned a lot with my Late Grandma who had a large breed. I always heard and choose to spay or retire at 5 the most. No matter what breed . I know many many breeders, of different breeds small, larger, all kinds. I never heard of anyone making plans to breed any female older than 6. Usually the plan is to retire by 5 , have the last litter at 5 or before ... Explain all the reasons will be too long of an answer, but i hope it helps you help your sister ! XOXO |
