Since you know nothing about the dogs pedigree, or what genetic health problems she might be passing along to her off-spring, you might be producing puppies with a lot of problems.

You have to know the history of the dogs ancestors and what problems there might be. In the long run, it will most likely cost you more to produce yourself another puppy than it would to buy another one.

Having a home for the pups is one thing. But if I was your mom or friend, and you gave me a pup that later had liver shunts or petella problems and needed the very expensive surgery, I would be very upset with you as the one the created the problem you gave me and could cause you some problems with them and you (relationship). And I do not think that you would want a pup with problems, but may end up that way. As others stated before you do not know her genetic history. So much can happen. Even c-sections are very expensive and in the end of breeding a litter cost - can end up more than a pup would cost to just buy from someone else. The best thing to do is to have her spayed. Your statement above pretty much says it all about the breeder you would become. Not meaning to be mean - just trying to get you to think things through thoroughly. Right now you are thinking with emotions of wanting pups and you have a female. You are still going to need a male. If you go out to purchase one, I do not believe that anyone with good quality yorkies would sell you one knowing that you would breed it to this girl you have now. The dog world as stated before is a small world.

Here is a news story on puppy mills when they were calling themelves happyapple and the owner was Dake Fu. Now happy rocky is advertising puppies with the name Ricky Fu.

It's all well and good to be interested in breeding, but you really, really need to get a mentor, research, etc..
Anyone who wants to breed should do it for the love of the breed and the betterment of the breed. If you do NOT have the best representation of the breed, then you shouldn't be breeding the dog. IMO
Personally, I would NEVER buy or breed a dog that came from this supposed puppy mill.

This place sounds pretty bad - if they were investigated - had to change names multiple times - it's pretty obvious they are doing something very wrong...

to the original poster - I would take a good look at your puppy and read all the advise given you. Lots of us were in your shoes and once we learned all involved decided we wanted our Pets to be just that - Our PETS. You don't know what kind of heriditary issues she will pass to her puppies if you go thru with this - I won't repeat what others have said because I think you know this really isn't a good idea and may just do it anyway....

Since she can't be registered - came from a place like that and she's still a puppy - maybe consider all involved and just spay her - that way you'll have a HAPPY PET

You start by trying to breed the best from the beginning...this is done by buying the best foundation stock and breeding to the best..you will never achieve your goal with this bitch...too many strikes against you..if you want a breed potential, you must go to a breeder who has them...buying from pet breeders is like going in the back door and you will always be in the back of the room breeding pets...I love pets, I have pets..but pets come from show stock, not pet stock..JMO

Please let me help you understand that by breeding your girl, you will not be getting a puppy for free, or doing any good for your little girl yorkie.

I posted already about the nightmare of my last breeding with Diva, who by the way had the proper testing done and the right bloodlines. Let me further explain that out of the 3 puppies I did sell 2 girls. Both girls sold with a spay contract and were sold for around $450 each, both to great families that have no intentions of ever trying to breed. The male cannot be sold due to the issue with his legs, so he is now my baby. He currently is costing me around $100 a month for special food and medicines due to his numerous allergies.

My vet bills just for this litter were $2436.18. After selling the 2 girls for $900, I was left with a bill of $1536.18. So now I spent over 15 hundred dollars and have one male puppy. Seriously, I could have bought 3 or 4 pet quality yorkies for that price, not to mention how many shelter dogs I could have helped with that money. Plus the only reason my bill was a low as it is is because I live in a very rural area and am actually friends with our vet.

If you breed your dog, be assured that the "free" puppy you will keep will cost you more that if you just found a good breeder in your area and purchased one. Further more, you could very easily lose your female to one of the many pregnancy related complications that plague yorkies.

I knew going into breeding that it was likely going to cost me more than I could ever sell a puppy for. What I did not fully understand was the emotional cost that was involved. I almost lost my beloved Diva. I will live with that guilt for the rest of my life.

Your little girl trusts you to do what is best for her. Please think about that the next time you 'think' about breeding her. I'm reminded of the fact that my choices almost killed Diva everytime she cuddles in my lap now. I'll never betray her trust again.

If you truly want to breed, you really need to consider the "cost" of breeding both emotionally and financially. Your little dog does not have the bloodline or pedigree for breeding if you really want to become a true "good" yorkie breeder. Why would you risk her life and possibly lose hundreds of dollars just to give "free" puppies to your family members?

not once did i say she was gonna be the best of the best i just asked for research information i stated that i was going to start my breeding experience with her and i still plan to even though she is not akc which i do plan on call the breeder and finding out the deal with the aca and akc stuff but i plan on breeding her just for the experience

What I would do is contact the AKC first BEFORE contacting this breeder - AKC has very helpful service people. The department you want is Registrations and in specific you have questions about foreign registries

Then we you talk to the breeder you are better informed on what the rules are

Well just got off the phone with the AKC they told me to send in all the paperwork and they will find out whats going on because i guess the guy does have some yorkies registered with them. Which as weird as it sounds i wasnt as happy as i thought i would be when they told me that it kinda made me think about where my furbaby came from. Although i did take the 4 hr drive to get her instead of them delivering her for a measly 65 bucks i still think i couldve poked around a lil bit more then i did. After seeing the video on channel 6 just now i realized where she did come from and not only am i ecstatic to have her be healthy but im very glad that i got her the heck outa there now when i went up there to get her i wasnt even in albany i had to go to brooklynn and when i went inside the house she was in a room right off the living room in a nice size crate so i didnt think anything about this guy owning a mill :eek: All in all im still goin to breed her probally the next time she goes into heat 2 :eek: lol NOTTT just wish i could have seen the reaction on some peoples faces ........ but on a serious note after the swelling and everything go down shes gonna go and get spayed indeed i dont think it would to be right breeding her without AKC papers and especially cause shes from a mill. Oh and whens that show in mass? im really interested in going not sure if i can make the nyc one but def wanna go to the mass one

a pet is a pet it comes from what ever stock. When u go to a shelter u dont get a show stock you get a PET and you love it just the same as show dogs.......show dogs come from show stock.... pets come from usually irresponsible people sadly to say.....

Sorry you found out the truth....glad you did your research and listened...spaying her is you best decision. She will make you a wonderful pet. Start doing all the research you can on lines, pedigree's, breeders...find yourself a mentor who will guide you along the way....once you have done as much research as you can, then purchase the best stock you can afford...then you will be be breeding for the best of the breed. Of course, pets come from pounds, shelters and even off the street ..found a few myself and kept them..
You asked about producing the best as your goal..your biggest misconception is to think pets come from pets...if I had learned that from the get-go 36 yrs ago, I would not have wasted time and produced too many poor quality Yorkies..never had good advise.

Champion Yorkies produce show quality and pet quality, so IMO there is no need to buy pet stock to produce a pet...the goal is to improve the breed...

Nope bad judgment there i think if its sounds like a bad idea and ppl are telling you bad idea you should count on its a bad idea.

What YorkieRose is saying that if you're breeding for the best.....whether for pet or show. You should always breed from the best, which should be show stock. If you don't well that's why so many dogs end up in shelters......
