Good luck to all you upcoming February Whelpers and Congrats to those of you that have babies. I was just wondering what you all have been feeding your pregnant mamas. I am pretty sure my Fifi is expecting. I wasnt so sure up until a couple days ago as she is starting to get round. According to the dates of when she first tied would put her at 33 days today. I mised the window to take her into the Vet to palpate her and get a guess on how many babies. I will wait until she is farther along and then take her in for a U/S. In the mean time ideas of what to feed her now is appreciated. She is currently eating dry IAMS puppy dog food. I will try the whelping pudding during whelping and after. In previous litters Ive not tried the pudding. Rather I simply fed chicken and rice mixed with the dry kibble in the weeks after whelping. Ive learned quite a bit and will be doing some things differently this time. I want to ensure my mamas health at all times and of course her babies too. Look forward to hearing what everyone elses Yorkie eats. |

It has been my eperience, if they are nice and warm they will lay sweparate, they huddle together if they are chilly. I put a heating pad under only half of the bed, so if they get too warm, they can get away from the heat, and also so Momma does not have to lay on the heating pad, she is always too warm anyway. |

I do not change their diet until the last two weeks. Then I give them 1/2 boiled egg and a couple of tablespoons of cottage cheese twice a day, plus feed them, puppy kibble. I feed them that until they are finished nursing. I have never had one refuse it and have never had one develop eclampsia |
Thanks for your reply..been trying to post pics but cant seem to get it right,I tried the resize thing but then it says file cant be found???About the pups I thought maybe it was a temp thing, but I worry so much about these little ones and momma,Just wanted to make sure that was "normal" and not a sort of rejection or anything.Would it her them to give a little of the beef liver drops if they are healthy?? |

My little girl Chanel had her puppies yesterday morning. It was the most wonderful experiance ever, of course I skipped the nerve recking part while delivering, but when it was all over it was the most wonderful thing to see...she had two beautiful boys. One weights 6 oz. and the other weights 5.6 oz at birth. the smaller one was born first and has a solid golden color, at first I thought he had no hair until he was all cleaned and dried. The second boy is just like a yorkie black and brown. |

We sensed something was wrong the morning of Chanel's delivery for she was shaking, I called my vet and explained but she told me that if she was going in labor she should not be moved from the house but to wait, I kept my older daughter from school and she was actually telling me to calm down the whole time. It took Chanel 30-45 minutes between each delivery and it seemed for ever....I''m so thankful it all went well. |

Wishing all the february expecting moms a fast and safe whelping. hugs, Carmen in nj |
Reese's temp was down Tuesday night,so ofcourse I slept minimal, then Wednesday morning she didn't eat breakfast so I knew it was the day,she laid around most of the day then afternoon I noticed her nesting,we laid on the couch most of the night till about 2a.m she wanted to go to her whelping area (where she was nesting earlier) so I made me a bed on the floor beside her,she would lay beside me then go to her blankets, till about 3:30 am she sat up almost a squat and I could see her pushing she didnt make a sound. She had first baby almost an hour after she started,45min later baby #2 was here and and 40mins later we had #3 (breach baby),I was so surprised how calm Reese was she was like a pro,I am so proud of her,she didnt even whimper a sound, she kept wanting to lay on my lap.I was trying to be as calm as she was but inside I was a ball of nerves, after reading EVERYTHING I possibly could,it was all running through my head the warning signs and bad case scenarios and still now with her and babies I'm constantly thinking "what if"...I imagine it will get better as time goes by.She's a great mommy and I could swear she was mad at me when we took babies for tail docking.:aimeeyork |

Many puppies come back feet first. It isn't considered breech unless they sre butt first. One week yet for Harlie. So excited. |
Both of Chanel's puppies were also breech and it took about 45 for each puppy to come out. |
