Opinion's please 1 Attachment(s) I am considering purchasing this yorkie puppy. Do you think she will be all golden or do you think she will keep some of the black? I know there is no way to tell for sure just wondering what you think. |
2 Attachment(s) First photo is her father. Second is her mother. |
The father is definitely a golden. The puppy has kind of odd coloring to me. Kinda dark for a golden but Im not an expert. It doesnt look like it has a black saddle like a traditional yorkie |

It is so hard to tell so young I think. She is a cutie though! Let us know if you decide to get her. :D |

I think it will be more golden...but I am just guessing. |
Oh and I didnt convey this in my post but I think the puppy is a cutie. His coloring being so dark might because hes so young |
just my guess, since she is chocolate looking to me, I would think more golden, like the father. Either way, she's a cutie. :) |
I don't know much about the variations but I thought golden's were bron golden? I know I've seen newborn pups that were already golden in color so I'd be inclined to think she would be more of the traditional colors like her mother. But who knows... |
Aww, what a little cutie!! I think he will be gold just a darker gold. I've seen two shades of gold in yorkies, the lighter and the darker. The lighter does seem to be more common as the older they get the lighter the gold gets. You can see a picture of a dark gold yorkie on this website to give you an idea... Do you have any other pics of her? If not, can you ask the breeder for a brighter picture? a bigger pic? I was trying to find the first pics I have of my Golden and the oldest ones I have are from the time she was 6 weeks old which I made into a puppy collage here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/alb...ictureid=78630 Its hard to tell from that pic you have just how dark she is but I can tell you that my golden was pretty dark as well. I have all her pics from the time she was born but the weeks 0-5 are all hardcopy. :( If you take a look at my pics in my albums, you'll see that Cinnamon has lightened up a lot. I believe she is on track to by just like her mommy which is a pretty light golden color. I can see her roots are starting to come through very light. I can't wait until I can cut off all that dark :) I love that golden look :) But then again...you never know what you will end up with it. One thing is certain....shower them with love and you will get back so much more in return. :) |
2 Attachment(s) She will be golden, my goldnes are born dark like that. The puppy in the center on the top picture is the same puppy as the other picture. Attachment 304325 Attachment 304326 |
Ah that's exactly how my Cinnamon looked too! :) |
Thanks everyone. I will ask the breeder for more pictures and post as soon as I get them. |
1 Attachment(s) Ok, I will hop in on this one. I have had alot of Golden and Golden Parti Puppies. This pup will most likely eventually like like her dad. She will go through several color changes over the first year and a half. First most goldens are dark, then they either lighten up slightly or develop alot of black hair intermingled with the gold. At about 6 to 8 months you starts to see them lighten up even more sometimes getting darker again after a few months. By 2 years old they usually have their adult color in and all the black hair they get as a puppy is gone. One more observation I have made is the more black hair they have mixed in as a puppy the darker they seem to stay. This pup looks like it has really clean gold with very little or no black so I don't think it will stay as dark as Goldee. |
3 Attachment(s) Here are some more photos for you. One is Goldee and her sister Lillee at about 7 months old. The others are Lillee now. |
3 Attachment(s) Here are some photos showing how the color changes on the darker goldens. You can see how the black hair is coming in at around 4 weeks. By 6 months old the majority of the black hairs will have changed back to gold and the pups look they have a bad dye job with hair that is black on the ends. |
2 Attachment(s) Here are some pictures showing the black on a baby dark gold Yorkie. |
1 Attachment(s) This Puppy with almost no intermingled black hair is now a very light color as an adult. |
4 Attachment(s) Here is another seet of photos showing the color changes. Starting dark but very little black mixed in. Transitioning to a cinamon color and then finally starting to turn lighter. |
Im glad there were some golden experts who were here to give their opinion |
Looks like the pup will have running gold to me. |
Thank you all so much for the opinions and the photo's. I have put down a deposit. I will post more photo's when I get them and keep everyone updated on her. I will love her anyway no matter what color she turns out but I sure do love the way the golden's look. Betty |
3 Attachment(s) Here are the new photo's the breeder sent to me. |
Looking at those I would say you have a very good chance of her being colored just like Goldee and Lillee:thumbup: |
