My girls usually lose their plug a few days before they go into labor. |

Thankfully, Livi decided to eat. It was a little after 9...I cooked her a chicken breast and she ate that and drank a lot of water. She was able to keep it all down...so far anyway. Such a relief! Geoff just checked her though and said she is panting again. :( I hope this doesn't mean that she is going to get sick again. |
With one of minei melted ice cream and fed her with a syringe I also gave her some water every hour until she started to eat again. She was quite sick and stopped producing milk, I had another female who had just weaned her litter so she still had milk. I put the babies on her every 2 hours, which she did not like, but tolerated. Then I would put them back in with mom. Eventually her milk came back. Still nothing from Ollie. I do not know if it was false, or what. She started getting roun and then she was getting smaller. The vet thought she had resorbed some of the puppies, but she still had one. She did start to put on weight again and got bigger, but now she is losing weight again. She acts fine, is eating fine, is active.:confused::confused: and they wonder why yorkies cost so much. \ |

How much is too much of the whelping pudding?? Livi decided to start eating again, but ONLY whelping pudding and she wants to eat quite a bit in one sitting. Jeanie, any change with Ollie? |
I am just checking on Ollie and looking for updates from ddj2. I hope all is going well for everybody. |
Abby's temp dropped at 2:30 this am, but just as it was time for me to either stay home or go to school her temp went back up to 99.7 so I went to school and hubby stayed home and worked until I came home. Temp went down again to a low of 98. and is now 98.3, but no sign of delivery. Hope it happens before to late. Have been up since 2:30 thinking we were on our way. haha They have a way of keeping us humble:p |

Panting, not eating, not drinking, etc are all common for bitches after they deliver. I make it a common practice to hand feed my girls normally for about a week after the birth. I also have a nice sized syringe that I give them water mixed with Karo in it, throughout the day and night. They love being hand fed. I cook them chicken breast, eggs, whelping pudding, burger, raw madallions, and I also break down only during this time and let them have ceasers puppy food. They do wonderful. And the hand feeding helps alot. All Livis' activities that you are describing are perfectly normal Tammy. No need to worry. :) |

Livi did eat whelping pudding today and then tonight, I gave her some chicken. My problem is getting her to drink water...she's not doin' it. I do have to use the syringe like you mentioned....even though she hates that. :( Positive note, Livi's babies are CHUBBY!!! I mean, CHUB CITY!! :D |
Oh yes, diarrhea is the norm too and VERY stinky. Expect it for a little while :) Also she will have discharge for several weeks as well. My mom's take the water from the syringe, real well, so hopefully Livi will start. Mine lick it as I slowly push the plunger. Glad the babies are doing well ! So.......who are you keeping ;) Quote:

Who are we keeping....hmmmm. :) Geoff is now claimng that he never said that we were keeping one. Yeah right...convenient forgetfulness. I would love to keep Cupcake, but I could end up falling head-over-heels for Cinnamon's personalityor Cadbury's. Time will tell....meanwhile, I will work on the hubby. ;) |
