Just wondering if anyone has heard of Stephanie Barnes A friend is interested has been hooked since she met CoCo... I believe she lives in TN and also show's yorkies and malt's .... |

Thank you I will past the information on =) |
My girl was sired by a male that came from her kennel. My whole conversation with her (Anna her partner) regarding the sire was weird at best. Won't get into the whole thing, will only say that I don't feel what was told to me was accurate and I also feel a lot was not told to me. I would do more research through people who have dealt with her directly for a pup. I think sometimes you are better off going through a small home breeder rather then a large kennel. JMO. E. |
Thank you for the information, she found her new furbaby from a local breeder in her town!!! |

I've said many, many times in the past. Believe nothing of what you hear and only have of what you see. Unless you know of a breeder's practices first hand and have been to their home, it is best not to provide any input, negative or postive. It's amazing how inuendos can ruin someone's repretuation, think before you speak/type. Do your homework..........!!!!!!!! |

You can go to 10,000 websites and they are say they love their dogs, raised in the home, yada yada yada. How many times have we heard they were so nice and knowledgeable about the breed and we all know they have learned to "sell" their dogs without any concern for their dogs. We have all learned to look for the red flags but people still will buy from these people. We also know some show breeders could care less about their dogs but are winning ribbons. The dog breeding/showing world is very complex as nothing is black and white as is the AKC. I know that dogs should not be an impulse buy (they usually are) so how do we educate people to what is going on in the background. We say it over and over here on YT but people still won't listen and dogs suffer because of it. Maybe we should start a thread on what to look for in a reputable breeder and also what to be aware of. Thoughts? |

As for what to look for in a reputable breeder and what to be aware of, I think that subject has been exhuasted on YT. It's out there, if one has the inclination to google it. I think that's the problem.....people are in a hurry or buy a puppy because they've fallen in love with a cute face. Buy off the internet and have the pup shipped, then cry because something went wrong.. You buy your breeder first, then your puppy. If you don't feel comfortable with your breeder or are looking for that breeder that will sell you on open registration without knowing you or mentoring you......run the other way. |

I don't know Anna on a personal level, so I can't comment on her breeding practices or how she handles her puppy placements. |

I do get upset these little dogs are many times impulse buys as they are not purses. They are a average 15 year commitment...they are not a learning tool to having skin children to be given up once the children start coming. For the most part these dogs are not great around small children so I am always amazed when breeders sell these little dogs to families with small children. A car dealer would not sell a corvett to a family with 9 kids. They know this will not work and the customers will return the car and be unhappy. In the case of the dogs they give them up to shelters or rescues....few breeders will take their dogs back for a lifetime if it is not working out. |

Sorry if I started anything, my friend knows I am a member with YT and some other forums, I think she was just really wanting to know if I have seen any of their babie's on line here or if she belong to the forum.. she does not, nor ever has owned a yorkie so I think she was just curious... I told her to go to ycta, akc, breeders in her area where she can see the puppies, sire's and dam's and since she had so many questions they could help her... I have always said in any of my posts on here " I have a great respect for the knowledge, sweat and tears, and the information they offer whether it be for simple info or emergencys!!" |
I forgot to say " for the breeders on here in my last line |
I know this thread is OLD and got a little off topic and heated back when it was fresh, but as someone who was doing research a couple of months ago and had stumbled upon it, I thought I'd post some information RE: OP - does anyone know Stephanie Barnes? in case anyone else out there is doing research on Stephanie Barnes / Destiny's... One of Stephanie's puppy's recently joined our family and I also feel like we've gotten to join Stephanie's family. Stephanie Barnes is amazing and is the perfect example of what you want in a reputable breeder. From our first interaction she made me feel so much more educated and confident and I can't say how thankful I am to have her enter my life. If anyone wants to know more, feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to chat. I am a HUGE Stephanie fan! |
