The two you lost could have had stunted development for other reasons also. All I'm saying is that from what I've read and from what my vet told me, the eggs (embryos??) all implant at the same time - regardless of when they were fertilized. But then I'm no specialist either.

yes, that is about what my son told me too, all the eggs are planted at the same time, regardless of breeding dates. now I heard of situations like this due to other reasons, but never due to different implant dates.
but again nature is strange and we will not know unless fully tested, and even then is a tricky thing..

I had a similar situation with my Myshkha. 1st litter 3 pups born, 2 girls, 1 boy, male died at day 3. 2nd litter, 2 males, no problem. £rd litther, 3 born, only male still born, the umbilical torn before birth.

True...

I asked my vet what happened... she said the two were premature (??). Pebbles gave birth day 62 from the 1st tie.

Hopefully the OP finds out what is causing her small pups to appear in each litter.

I find this topic very interesting (because I have experienced it).

I'm not an expert but as far as I know it can make a difference to the fetus depending on where in the uterus the embryo implants. I guess some spots are not as choice as others. For example if two placentas are attached to the uterus too close together, one may rob another of the nutrients that are needed or placentas may be smaller if they are kind of squashed together.

I think I would have done necropsies on the dead puppies. Did you use the same male both litters? Maybe the stud is the problem.

I finally have a chance to sit down. I'm gonna try to answer everything I can.

I am going to have her and my male tested for Brucellosis and bacterial infections. It was the same male for both so next breeding I will use a different stud. If she does fine then I will know it's my male, if we have the same problem then Gracie will be spayed.
