I don't know how many there are. She was just about 6 pounds before and is now 7 1/2 pounds. I am just surprised at how big she is. I did use my new male with her (Rambo). This will be his first litter. Must be super sperm!!

Pebbles is still acting like her same old self.... she still jumps for treats! She is having trouble cleaning her "area" though... basically she's been cleaning her leg since she can't reach what she really wants to clean! ;)

I can see if you look at the picture quick .... she does kind of look like a kangaroo. :D

Are you going to get her x rayed? she is really round. My last one had 5 and it was her first litter, I thought that was a lot for a first time.

Good luck with them.

I'm guessing 6. Anyone else want to guess?

Pebbles has averaged 4 pups per litter (this is not her first litter). She did have one litter of 5. I don't remember her being this big so early... but as I mentioned... she mated with a different male this time.... maybe more pups... or the pups are bigger (?).

She is due November 3rd... maybe she will go early and have Halloween pups!

I will certainly be waiting to see how many pups she has. I was actually expecting you to say it was a joke and that this pic was photoshopped or something. That looks incredible! I've never had a pregnant Yorkie but our Aust. Shep. just had pups a couple months ago. Huge difference between the two breeds though.

I am assuming there are at least 5... I think in a week or so I may be able to feel where one pup starts and the other one ends... maybe even determine if one side is larger than the other (more pups on one side).

When does she go back to the vet?

I guess it is just me but if one of mine got that big I would be a little worried. I have never had a big litter either though.. so it might just be me.

I'd be more worried if this was her first litter. She's a pro!

I really don't think the vet can do much at this point. I have a good relationship with my vet(s) (there are two of them). One of them is always on call at night in case of emergencies. They are only 2 miles away.

This might be a dumb question, but if its a large litter, are the pups born smaller, or is she just gonna get really big?

This is probably the one concern I have... there is only so much room in there... a few could end up tiny.

My vet explained to me once that the size of the dog is a factor in the size of the pups. That's why yorkies don't throw 7 or 8 ounce pups (usually).
My girls usually throw pups between 3 and 5 ounces... with 2 ounce ones in there from time to time.

Is that due date the 63rd day after 1st breeding? I had one girl that had 5 pups in one litter then next litter had 7 pups and went 58 days from first breeding on both. Mark your calendar for at least 57-58 day gestation on this one cause she's full up! You sound like you both have some experience so you may already know to do this.

I'm not sure, but would think, as with women, the female determines the number of babies, by the number of eggs, so not sure if a different male would make any difference.
