I think this is exactly why YT is such an important resource, and why we should really value our members. Especially the ones who have put their whole hearts into the breed, and learned some lessons the hard way or through experience. Most people don't have "experts" at their fingertips, that can guide them through the process of picking a breeder, buying, rescuing, showing, breeding, health problems, testing, treatments, training, and loss. I guess the list could go on and on, but if we all keep educating each other and the people who want to know, then maybe less people will want to buy a 5-8 week old puppy. |
I got Lola at 8 weeks, she seemed healthy. Shes CKC registered and I took her to the vet for her check as soon as I got her and he said she was perfect health. Two weeks later, she had horrible eat mites, a week after that she got a resp. infection and eye infection. My vet thinks she didnt get enough immunity from her mom. She still has fits with getting sick but shes overall healthy. Shes 5 months old now. |

Update.... I have now quit looking at the paper. It's just too upsetting. |
SADLY but true, people want the pups at 7 or 8 weeks, when I was placing my yorkie jacks with my relatives most of them wanted them at 8 weeks and could not understand why I was keeping them with Taffy until 12 weeks.. and with this economy I can see why a breeder will let them go for financial reasons..I am breeding my silky terrier and I already told the future parents that pups stay here until 12 weeks I had a lady drop from my list because she wanted the pup at 6 weeks.. too bad her loss not mine..;) hugs, Carmen in nj |
