Thanks Mardelin! I just want to take a minute to let you know that you are one of the most (if not THE MOST) informative breeder on Yorkie Talk! Over the years, I have learned so much from you and your graciously educating posts. You amaze me with your patience and understanding! You work hard to open people's minds and encourage them to see what is best for the breed. You obviously have a breeding program that epitomizes the goals of the YTCA. You consistently put the good of the breed above personal notoriety and financial gain. Anyone reading through the Breeder Talk section, will quickly see the valuable contribution you make to this Forum and the Yorkshire Terrier breed. I was appalled this morning to find a newbie maligning you out of hand. How someone could miss your years of devotion to the breed even after only a couple of weeks onboard, is beyond me! I tried to reply there but the thread was quickly closed. Good move on Admin's part as it was evident, a minor War would have broken out once more members saw you under attack. Many more of us would have come to your defense. Please just know that any objective person here over a day, respects you and is grateful for the valuable knowledge and experience you share! Thank you Mary! |
:thumbup::thumbup: I totally agree with you on this! I too am a huge fan! |
Huh? I guess I missed the post, but I agree, nothing but the best information! |
I also appreciate mary. She and I don't always see eye to eye and we are both very outspoken people but I consider her my friend and if I am ever in need, she is there for me. I, too, was appalled at the other poster and several of us reported her but apparently, not enough of us did. |
I agree Mary always gives out good advice |
:thumbup::thumbup:I agree, Mary is a great asset to YT. I really appreciate her and all the other show breeders that contribute here. |
Thank you Mary for putting yourself out there......I'm so sorry it had to go off topic again and cause problems for you...It wasn't supposed to be about good breeders V bad breeders it was supposed to be a discussion about the physical changes in dogs and the health problems they're causing...... It was nice of you to try and educate, I like learning and you really try to go the extra mile to do so even though it gets frustrating at times.....Again I'm really sorry..... |
I have to say that I have also learned a great deal from Mary's posts. I truely appreciate her. |

WOW! I missed the other thread! I'm just catching up and Mary you are so patient with others and I commend you! You are more patient than I am LOL...Keep up the good work! Donna |
Cant wait to meet you on friday Mary! |
Debra again well said and I, too, have the utmost respect for both Mary and Dee. They are both a wealth of Yorkie knowledge and so helpful. Not so long ago I PMd Mary for some info and she was so gratious to answer me and help me out. I'm not a breeder but I have learned so much about our Yorkies and Biewers from them. Thank you ladies!!:D |
I agree 100%, Mary you are a great help to many. I enjoy readying what you have to say. I take as much as my brain can take in and hope one day I will be able to help others as you do. Thanks ;) |
Yes I agree too! I don't understand where some are coming from in the way they treat those that are just trying to offer their knowledge and assistance. |
Mary has always been very nice and helpful to me as well :) |

Thank you Debra. We all learn as we go along. I find that I have changed my thinking concerning a lot of things as I have learned more about breeding and now that I am also an exhibitor I have realized many things. I am never ashamed or too proud to say I'm wrong or I'm sorry. But hey, I am a hot mama!!!!!!! Remember that one?:D |

Mary is truly a class act. We should be very fortunate to have her stay on here and inform, educate, and show such patience. It sounds like the other person has had a very bad experience or has totally been misinformed. |
I agree I always find all post very informative!!:thumbup: |
I am new to YT, but I have been reading the posts and searching for topics I am interested in and I have learned so much from Mardelin and so many other experienced breeders/exhibitors. I am thankful for your knowledge and to be able to benefit from your experiences. :) |
I have to say i was browsing the new posts and came across that particular post and by the end I was very appalled at the total ignorance of a particular poster. I don't post alot, i seldomly as questions. if there is a particular question I need an answer or just some advice to i PM either Mardelin or Dee. I am absolutely grateful for any and all advice they give me. Some people come on here and want quick solutions where there are none. It takes time and dedication to learn all about this breed and going into breeding is not always easy heck neither is showing. So anyway thank you both for helping a newbie to breeding and showing out. |
:thumbup:Mary always gives great advice, even the most experienced of yorkie owners/breeders, can still learn and to have Mary around is truly an asset to all of us. |
There are so many wonderful people on this site that help out even the most in-experienced ones. I fully commend you guys for that. If it was for all of you some of us would still be as lost as the first day we brought our fur babies home. Mary, you have been so helpful with my upcoming litter by giving me and Adrianne advice. Dee, you always have great ideas and are always informative. Tina, you always give your opinion even if they aren't what the OP wants to hear, but its still learning from another persons state of mind. BamaFam, your statements have always been informative and insightful from your perspective. I'm sorry to say that I miss seeing you post more often, but I understand why you do not. BJH, you have also been very helpful with new members and give advise no matter what the situation calls for. It upsets me when these great people get bashed for giving their advise and opinions. I do admit that there were times when I did find them a bit harsh, but after getting to know them better, and getting to know where these breeders are coming from, I no longer see their statements as harsh. I see them as a learning possibility as well as opinions from friends. (So sorry if I forgot anyone else! A Case of the brain freezes came up on me!!) |
I'll be off-line for about 3 weeks. But, I didn't want to sign off without saying Thank You to all of you. It's been my pleasure to give assistance to those that have asked for it and even those that haven't........What is greater pleasure is to see how some have become more passionate for the yorkie than I am. The last 2 weeks have been very stressful for me, as I've done something I never thought I'd do. I whelped 2 litters within 48 hours......What I've learned from that is I never plan to do that again. I'd never lost a pup in my breeding endevors, this time I lost 2.... mommie delivered prematurely. I lost 1 the first 24 hours and the 2nd at a week old.....Nursing, meds, hand feeding could not save them....their lungs were not developed enough to pull them through. The good thing is that 2 out of the 4 made it and they are fat and sassy I don't know how I'd have survived had it not been for my husband....what a great whelper and my rock. While I'm off to dog shows in Texas, he's staying at home taking care of the yorkie crew, mommies, babies and the rest. Once again thank you all so much. |

I am so very sorry that you lost two little ones Mary. That just shows how really classy you are because even through your trials you have still been helping others, giving your time and knowledge that you learned through hard work. I have learned so much from you, Dee, Barbara and Deb of Amazing Yorkies- I thank all of you and you all give and give - answering every question with patience for us new to breeding and or new to owning Yorkies. The information found on this site is priceless and all of you have made that possible. I wish you all the best in Texas! God Speed. |
I agree. I do not post as often as I maybe should (I do read YT all the time) but I feel stongly about this post. After years of waiting and research I am finally expecting my first litter in 5 days time and I would never be as prepared as I am if it were not for people like Mardelin. Everytime I think there is something I would like to know, I could just search the different YT sections and without fail I would find my answer there from her and other wonderful experienced breeders. You guys are the best. Thank you so much. |
I completely agree! I am still a newbie or consider myself one, I am learning so much about the breed from all the great information from those like Mary. I always like to let them know too when I see information or a post that I felt was relevant! I hope you all know how truly blessed YT is to have you all, it is too bad that some arent willing to sit back and learn from the wealth of information that this site has to offer thanks to people like Mary, Dee, and Debra! (And many more!) |
Add me as a fan......You too Dee ....& the breeders who really think and care about what they're doing. Over the years I've seen quite a few very experienced breeders give up and leave and there are a few I really miss ....but you guys stick it out and still help even though I know sometimes it has to be very hard to choose your words. I didn't see the post that's been brought up but have a feeling I know exactly who it was (I'm thinking it was the one I posted in too only because I couldn't believe what I read):rolleyes: I normally don't post in the breeders section because I'm NOT a breeder Edited to add - Debra - Nancy - You both are great too. I always enjoy reading your replies |
Mary, you will be missed. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of the two little ones. Sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. I pray the mommas and the other babies do well. I know you will have a great time at the specialty. Hugs. |
Mary, I cant tell you how much I appreciate your help and how much I value your guidance and opinion with whelping and raising my love bugs. I read your posts in the breeders section regarding other pregnant mommies many times after I found out Bella Mia was pregnant. I was thrilled when you volunteered your phone number. I knew we would be ok with your help. When I did call for help, your calm reassuring voice on the phone is what helped get me through Bella Mia's whelping. Just having you voluntarily on the phone @ 2am saying calm down it is ok was the strength I needed to assist my girl whelping. I just needed the you can do it chat and away we whelped. I obviously learned reading in a book is not the same as participating in the whelp it can only prepare you so much. I am VERY sorry to hear about your pups. Your husband was also wonderful with helping me on the phone with questions. I am sure he will do a splendid job with the pups while you are gone. If I ever do become a breeder I will aspire to be like you and would love to be mentored by you. Again thank you for the kindness you have always shown me and all the education you have provided me. Enjoy your shows! ~Angela |
