Sammie Did It!!!!
 
We were on our way to the vet for a c-section, and she started having hard contractions. We have our first girl born at 8:05am weighing in at 6.8 oz.

Update on Sammie
 
Sammie had her little girl and all seemed well. Then the unthinkable happened. Sammie started throwing up blood and didn't have any other contractions. I rushed her to the vet immediately where they did an exam. We decided to have an emergency c-section and spay. The vet said that there was a puppy stuck in the birth canal. He doesn't know if that one is going to make it or not. I will update later, but right now, I need to clean up the whelping area.

Oh no, I am so sorry! I'm sending lots of prayers your way. Please let update us on Sammie as soon as you can. How is her other pup doing?

OMG, what a scare right after the triumph of Sammie whelping the first pup on her own! I sure hope the c-section, the 2nd pup, and the spay go okay and that everyone is home resting comfortably by now. Prayers coming your way; I know you will update us when you can.

Well, thanks everyone. I just got Sammie home from the vet. They wanted to keep her there a while and make sure that she was going to be alright. We have a total of two babies. 1 girl that she delivered this morning on her own, and now a little boy. (I should say big boy) He's a whoping 8.4 oz.

I really appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. I don't know if you realize how special each and everyone of you are, but today I am very proud to have your support and kind words.

I will post pictures later. I'm exhausted.

Me too. She is still groggy from the medication, but hopefully, I can get her to eat something soon. They left the IV cath in her in case something happens so that we can get help right away.

"Big Sigh of Relief!" I am SO glad to hear that Sammie and her second puppy are both okay. You must be exhausted from her being in labor since yesterday and then the events of today leading up to the c-section. You get some rest; we will be waiting here for pictures so that we can welcome Sammie's babies to the world! Congrats! :D

Okay, so mom & pups are resting. I took some photos for you to see, but didn't want to pick them up because they were so peaceful. Remember, Sammie is a Shih-tzu not a Yorkie. I didn't take a picture of her today because she's not feeling well enough. I did have another picture of her (while she was pregnant) that I thought I would share with you.

Awww, they are so cute sleeping side by side. You can sure tell which one is the bigger boy; no wonder mom had trouble. But they are out, alive and well, and everyone is safe at home with you. I'll say TRY and get some rest tonight, but from experience (just a few days ago), I'll tell you that you might not sleep to soundly for another night or two. I was up with every little peep or movement . Thanks for sharing the pics; I hope we get to see more as they grow. Congrats again!
