4 Attachment(s) I just took some pics...here you go. Just had her groomed today and she's asleep again next to me in bed up against daddy's back while he is napping. See all of his freckles?!! lol Look how swollen her private area is!!! She looks like she's ready to pop except she hasn't dropped yet. |
Looks like my Maleah is due first on the list...no one is due before the 9th? I am thinking Maleah might have two as her belly isn't very big although we do have a 2 1/2 weeks left! :) |
1 Attachment(s) Here is a pic of my Maleah before she was expecting :) |
Don't jinx me!!! Watch Carly come out before the 9th and I won't be ready! lol haha JK I just want to be ready and know exactly when she will be having them...but I guess just like humans you can never plan or prepare for it, they are going to come out when they want to come out! :p I'm just hoping she gives me all the signs so I'm not having to check her temp sooo often...I hate seeing that, looks painful, now I have to do it! Ouch! lol With my luck she will start giving birth at 1am and I will be up all night! |

She was weighing in at her heavier self (we had gone camping the weeks before her heat started) as she was eating a lot of crumbs during her heat. She weighed 5.4lbs when I weighed her once we got home, and since getting PG she has gained almost 6oz. Her current weight is 6.06lbs. |

She is gorgeous. Maybe you can get a belly pic in before she pops! There is a lady that is due in the September thread at the end of the month, but could possible have them very early in October. |
Carly's xrays and due date is moved up! 3 Attachment(s) Here are the pics of her xrays today...she is having 3 babies!!! Her due date is now Oct 9th so I need to start taking her temp around the 5th, you can see their spines and ribs so since they have already developed the ribs doctor says she's further along. One baby is taking up an entire side of her belly and the other two are squeezed together on the other side. If you can, zoom into the pic it makes it easier to see. You can see their skulls it's sooo neat! She is exhausted...we went to a couple of pet stores afterwards, she was hanging out with her husband the whole time, she's out for the night. Enjoy the pics! |
:) Wow, What GREAT pictures. This must be getting exciting for you. I know it is interesting for me. I love a puppy watch. |
If I was a bettin' person, I would bet Carly has 4 puppies in there... 2 on each side... Good luck. My Tasha is due at the end of the month and is just now starting her "swelly belly" look... = ) |

Ha! My husband just saw the pics and said the same thing!!! He said either that one on the left is an amazon puppy or there is two! He said it looks like there are two spines on the left! I'm gonna call the vet tomorrow and see if I can get another xray maybe on Monday. |
Quote:
Well I can definitly see 3. So I was one off from the x-ray. I'm still saying 4!!! I think seeing the heads is the neatest part. I think that there must be a pup pushing the one on the left up cause its huge looking!!! I'm glad that the pups are in a good position for her to whelp too! Just remember a pup could be hiding so do keep an eye on her during her whelp. If she is still having contractions after the third pup and has delivered all the placentas there could be another pup. I do hope the whelp goes well for you!! Here soon we'll be on puppy watch!!!! |
You all are too funny! I'm definitely calling the Dr now if you all are going to keep saying 4 because honestly now that everyone is pointing it out it really does look like one over the other! It's not like something like this is unheard of either...wow! Only to me...go figure! lol I hope everyone one of you plan on being up late and on the look out for me the second week of October posting for help! hahahaha :p I may just be the first grandma of the month! |
Ok, I called the Vet because way too many people including my husband thinks she is having 4! The Dr agreed that we probably should do another xray but wait a week so we are scheduled for another Friday appt. She will only have about another week to go then so I'm sure she will palpitate her before doing it just incase but we are assuming another xray is in order just so we know she won't need a csection due to a large baby. I can't believe less then 2 weeks away and I'm going to be a grandma!!! |
Can you please tell me everyting i will need far as, whelping list. I too will be having a liter in October!! I really need a mentor bad. |

You will need a good quiet & comfortable area in your home to be ready for the momma to start nesting a week or two before birth and she will get comfortable in this spot. It needs to be like a closet or somewhere with little traffic and non-drafty so the pups can stay warm. Here are a list of supplies, I may be forgetting to leave something out so anyone please feel free to add or remove as this is my first time as well. Now hopefully momma will do everything and all you will need to do is watch but you need to br prepared just in case. Plenty of blankets & towels Unwaxed dental floss or string Hemostats Scissors for umbilical cord Puppy bottles Supplemental milk like Just Born Gloves Scale to weigh them (found mine on ebay) Heating pad or something to keep the pups warm Pee pads or newspaper Iodine for umbilical cords Baby bulb to suck out mucus from nose & mouth Strings or collars for their necks to distinguish who's who. If I think of anything else I will let you know, I'm half asleep right now. Lol |

Just a few things I'd add to your list.. The supplemental milk I use is goats milk.. I get goat-a-lac from revival.. powdered.. (I also use this to give to mom during whelping if she gets tired.. gives her a natural calcium boost) I'd add K-y jelly or some type of lubricant in case you need to go up and help one of the pups down Some alchol for your hands, fingers unless your using gloves if you need to go in.. I don't use gloves as there just is no room and I can't feel things as well.. cut your nails! Have a clock handy, paper and pencil to write down birth weights and time of delivery.. you want to know how long it is between pups. plenty of paper towels Wash cloths.. I use these to stimulate the puppy and clean it up telephone.. have it handy with numbers to your vet or mentor easily available Calsorb for mom if she needs a stronger boost of calcium Make sure the heating pad is covered.. puppies burn VERY easily.. I would use a heating pad made for this purpose if you can. Best of luck.. I'm sure you'll have some beautiful healthy babies.. enjoy the experience, it's a wonderful miracle you share with your mommy. Stay calm and peaceful.. that helps. -Diana :animal-pa |
Thanks Diana I was reading off the top of my head, I have a list put away. Oh we both forgot to mention a thermometer for taking moms tempurature. Lol |
I also would include a nice kitchen scale (cost a lot less than what you would find on the supply sites), I got mine from wal-mart. Pretty simple to work, so you can weight your new babies when their born. You might want to also have some sort of broth for your gal as she won't be eating much that day she will need something to hydrate her. Also you may want to have a book or a movie going to help calm your nerves a bit. It can be hours before anything really starts happening. I have three good book lined up for me. I've already read them once, but their so good I can read them again. |

As far a mentor we are all pretty much newbies at whelping yorkies. These litters are our firsts for many of us. Mary is there for many of us. She's out right now for about another week. |
Can you please tell me how much hair has to be cut off mom, befor the pups are to be born? Do you have to cut all her hair, or just on her belly, and around her buttom? Thanks:-) |
I keep mine in a puppy cut all the time. Most people will do a puppy cut when a dam is about to whelp so the puppy doesn't get tangled in the dam's hair. I will shave her belly next week so there is no hair in the way of the nipples. If you don't want to cut her hair really short. You'll need to trim most of the hair so that its no longer than 2 inches. Its better for the pups so they don't get tangled, then dragged or choke to death. Don't worry the hair will grow back! |
We shave all the whole belly all the way up to the armpits..and the butt area is kept short too...we keep the hair on the back up in pony tails along the back to keep it out of the puppies way. You have to redo the pony tails every day or they will get knotted up. Good luck!! |
Thanks fof your reply! |
Okay, so it snowed here last night, and the temp has been around 32 degrees all morning. My dogs have all gone out to go potty this morning. Well 2nd time to let them out, my other two wnet out and were playing in the snow. Raeley was like "Forget It, I'm pregnant and its Freezing out there!!" It was to funny! She's never had a problem with the snow, with or without a jacket on. I can't blame her though, when I was pregnant during the winter (both pregnancies) I never wanted to leave the warm house! Well Update on Raeley. She is now 7 weeks along. I have felt the babies more for two days now. They are getting really active. Raeley will come cuddle with us when they start kicking her cause she can't figure out whats going on. We have our x-ray next wednesday. I will post a belly pic next Monday (8 weeks along) to do a puppy guess contest. Then on wednesday I will post the pics of the x-ray so we can see how many she might be carrying. |
oh the S word already.. is dark and grey here in NJ but no S word.. is cold , I can't wait to see belly pictures, hopefully my silkie girl is prego too.. |
Yep the horrible S word!!! It actually snowed on Sept 21 a bit 1 hour from here. It never fails that it either rains or snows on the 21st (my b-day) but the snow actually stuck last night. UUGGHHH! I'm hoping that this is all that is coming for a bit. I don't want to have to drive in the snow to take Raeley to her appointment on Wednesday as well as to the ER (hopefully not going to happen) at night cause the road will be a disaster! |
