How is Roxie doing these days? |
Roxie is doing pretty good. She'd actually be due the 21st if I go by the last tie she had, lol. But going by the "best tie" it's the 18th. It could even be a whole 'nother week before she whelps if she's a couple days late! (Aren't singleton litters prone to showing up late anyway?) She's not acting any differently, really.. no nesting, restlessness, anything like that.. although lately she has been driving me INSANE at night! She lays next to me in bed and I'll wake up at 3 am to her licking my pillow or sheets like crazy. Sometimes she licks so much before I wake up, that there's a 2-foot circle of saliva on my bed. Gah! Needless to say, I'm doing a lot of laundry now haha. |

Rose, I got your PM. I would try to let her deliver, like your Vet advised. One time I got an Xray with 1 huge looking pup in the Xray. However, it must have been how she was laying because the pup was actually only 3 1/2 ounces. So... you might be OK. Have some KY jelly and a 3cc syringe (without needle) handy. When she goes into pushing hard, squirt the KY into the syringe and then insert the syringe into her crotch and lube the heck out of things.. LOL It really helps! (Be sure to have paper towels on hand too to grab the slippery baby with, in case you have to help it out, and gloves in case you have to do an exam.) Don't hesitate to call if you need help at any time! We're cheering for you! Good luck! |
thats awesome!! I am so excited for everyone! yea, I think I am going to have to not let Cinnamon on the bed anymore. this morning I let her on the bed with me and it was a big mistake. she usually never ever jumps off unless I get out of bed and she has been confined recently because of her diarrhea so I figured it would be nice to let her spend some time on my bed for a little while. well, you guessed it, she jumped off!! I was soo worried about those little babies. I know she is having 4, possibly 5 and she is 7 weeks so her tummy is pretty big. she is going to be sleeping in her whelping box from now on. I have just finished building her whelping box and I am so proud of myself with how it turned out. I will try to get some pics of it and of Cinnamon's belly. I know everyone loves belly pics!! does anyone know how to make a pic smaller? I tried posting a pic but they were all way too big. I may have to post them on another website and just put a link to it. good luck to everyone that is whelping soon!! |

posting real quick from my phone.. just double checking- how long after the temperature drops does the dog go into labor? |
From my understanding, it could be 12-24 hours. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. |

4 Attachment(s) Diva had her babies on Saturday. She went into labor around 11 that morning and had her first boy at 12:10 (3 ozs). 2 hours later at 2:05 she had a very tiny little female that weighed barely 2 ozs. 4 hours later she had a sack showing but no puppy and no pushing , so we headed to the vet. He gave her an oxytocin shot to try to help after he examined her and said that the puppy was coming backwards. After 15 minutes and no puppy he took her back for a c-section. We ended up getting 2 more little girls. #3 was 4 oz and was backwards and was just too big to come out on her own. #4 was 3 oz. Thankfully Diva did great and came around quickly from the anesthesia. Sadly this morning the tiny baby passed. We fought hard tube feeding her but she was just too tiny. The little boy has deformed back feet. My vet said to give him a few weeks to see how they do and that we may have to go to LSU vet school to see if they can do anything. Have any of you had a puppy with feet like this and what did ya'll do? Pictures are below. |
Congrats on the babies. I'm sorry that you lost one. I have never seen feet like that before, I hope that something can be done. I hope that the other babies and mom continue to do well. |
