I try to make up a big bag of goodies. Enough stuff so they will be set for a while and not have to buy anything. |
I like to give a 5lb. bag of Canidae ALS, a couple cans of puppy food to mix with dry, shot records, health guarentee, my vet number, phone number to SNAP a low cost or no cost Spay/Neuter, Microchip and reg. form, tube of Nutri-cal, blanket, bed, fashion collar w/ bling name, copies of parents pedigrees, AKC form, pack of pee-pee pads, and informational forms. My phone number and e-mail. I don't know if I left anything else out. Oh and food and water dish. :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
I am not a breeder yet, but soon I will be and then I plan to include the following things in the puppy care package: A pink/blue blanket with mommy's scent on it, Some pre-made home cooked food (frozen), home cooking recipes, nutritional supplement, collar with tag, a toy or two, washable pee pad with a little pee on it (to show the new puppy where to go), a bow or two (colours according to gender), care sheet with info on everything, recommendation to join YT, album with pictures of mommy, daddy, siblings and puppy, food bowl, maybe an outfit or two (I make them myself), nutrical, and a few more surprises. I wish I had received a puppy care package with my two. That would have been nice. |
I think these are a great idea, they will definitely make the purchase much more desirable. I know some times people pay alot for the pup and then to think of all the little extras that they would have to spend, this would really help out and who doesn't love gifts! :p |

What a great idea! That would help me to make my decision! It costs a lot to buy a pup and then to supply all there needs immediately, this is a great starting point for any new owner! |
I know that this isn't really part of the puppy care package. But I send out Christmas cards from the puppy's mom and dad. And then Birthday cards with a gift cert. from a Petsmart or Petco (whatever is in their area). That is just a little something extra to let the family know that I am still here and I care!;) |

1 Attachment(s) It really depends on if they are picking up the puppy or shipping. I always have the papers, copy of the signed guarantee, food, shot records, ear taping guide sometimes, info on misc things like heartworm, microchips, toy, blanket and pee pads. This is the last thing I made for the little biewer girl that was picked up :) It's a pee pad cake! Her brother that went to CA (hand delivered!) I sent the cutest matching camo harness, toy and blanket - soooo cute! Of course he didn't get a pee pad cake as it would have fell apart, but he still got the pee pads and they were the ones they were used to while they were here :) Sometimes they will get an outfit or harness or whatever I pick up for them. I have never gotten anything except a blanket when I have gotten a pup and I know how much I would adore it if I got extras! |
I forgot to say the base of the cake is the blanket, then the pee pads, two toys and little bags of treats are around the first layer :) |
OMG how wonderful of you all to think of all of this. What a way to make getting that baby super special. The only thing I could think of, and it may have been mentioned but I missed it is a schedule of the babies day. when they eat and potty etc. It may be helpful for the first timer. |
