Oh how exiting!!! soon, soon, soon you will have little ones!!! Cant wait to see pictures as they arrive!! |
It is about 11:30 pm here and I took her temp and it is 98.2 degrees. So, I think she will be going soon. She is still nesting and doesn't want me out of her sight. What should I do with the daddy? Should I separate them now or wait till she starts labor? I can't wait to see these little babies. I am counting the days and hours and minutes. LOL. Thanks for all your help. Mary |
Oh how exciting!!! I would probably go ahead and seperate them now. If she is getting close, he may be stressing her out..Congrats, wish I could stay up and watch!!! |
Hi, everyone, just to let you know her temp is now 97.4 degrees. She has been nesting this morning but has not ate, only 2 slices of bacon. She is acting really strangely. When do I start to worry about her? If she doesn't go within 24 hrs, take her to the vet right? I am really getting worried, since her labor has not started yet. She doesn't seem stressed, so should I just give her time? Thank you all, this is our first litter and I know every whelp and dog is differrent, just thought you all could help me. Thanks again. They do act strange when they are going into labor. Just try to relax with her. She is probably scared and nervous about what is happening to her. Is she trying to hide? Sometimes you might not notice the early contractions and they can go into hard labor pretty quick while others might lay around for hours just digging, panting and trying to hide. It does sound like she is getting close. Please keep us posted and best wishes for a safe whelping. |
Hi, we have PUPPIES! We have two little chocolate brown boys so far. Mom did great. She is a natural. I surprised myself and did great too. She is resting now and hopefully we will get a few more. How long can they go between births? The first one was born at 9:30 and the second at 11 pm. I heard they can got 4 or more hours. Is that true? I will update more and post pics tomorrow. Mary |
4 hours is too long between puppies Chocolate HM what color is mom and dad? |

:)I disagree that 4 hours is too long between pups. My Rosie had puppies 2 weeks ago, it was her first litter and she took a lot of time between a few puppies, the maximum time between pups with her whelp was about 5 hours. (then 2 came out with only a minute between them) I think as long as she is not pushing or in hard labor for that long, they should be o.k., that was the case for us, she had 5 healthy puppies. Still go with your gut, when my girl was taking 5 hours, i did have her ready to go to emergency vet at 4 in the morning, car was heated up, and I put her in her 'box ' to go with the pups we already had and was walking out the door, she began to push and within 2 minutes there was a sack, she whelped the last 2 at home. (all 5 at home, really) I would take her if she was activily pushing with no results, but if she is content I would say to wait a bit more, or until your scared about it. I realize that this has been several hours since your last post, so NOW it would be too long, but that is my advise. Update us when you can. |
Hello, we have 2 little boys. She did great. She expelled and ate both placentas and did not have any other contractions. Her belly feels empty and she is doing good. She goes outside and runs back in looking for her babies. Mom is a blue and tan purebred yorkie and dad is a golden purepred yorkie. My boys dad was a chocalate yorkie. So, that is probably how we got two chocolates, lol. I always wanted a chocolate. LOL. I guess I got two now. I will be keeping both. She is such a good little mama. I give her some cottage cheese and she gobbled that up. She has drank and ate. She isn't eating much. I am gonna go get her some special food and her favorite treats. I will post pics. Thank you all for all the help. We all appreciate it. Thank you for your prayers also. That helped tremendously. Oh, the first little boy was very small and weighed 4 oz. The second was pretty big and weighed 7 oz. First was born at 9:30PM and the second at 11PM. |
Congrats on your new babies! Glad all is well!!! |

I think they are great sizes...You will have so much fun with your pups. I miss having little puppies running around! Congratulations on your new little boys! |
many congrats on the arrival of your 2 babies we are on day 44 and getting so excited i really cant wait although really nervous. |
Congratulations on your new babies! And lucky you that you will be keeping both of them. I am glad all went well for you; the whelping time can be scary sometimes for the non-experienced AND the experienced breeders both. I'm going to go look at the pictures of those cuties now.:D Wow, aren't they special! I don't know much about the different colored yorkies, but seeing them in the pics, they don't look so much chocolate as they do maybe going to be more golden. They're backs seem to have the gold in them and their faces look like regular yorkie color where normally I've seen them look brown. Just an observation as like I've said, I don't really know too much about it except through pictures. Speaking of which, I can't wait so see how these babies change, so keep posting pictures in the weeks to come please :) |
