2lb. & pregnant? OMG! I don't know what to do... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I posted this in the general discussion....but thought I might get responses here too....- I answered an ad in the paper for a 1 yr, 2 lb female. After talking with the lady (very nice lady), she told me there may be a problem. Apparently, she's a hobby, or byb. She said she had all her little ones, male & female in an expen together and did not realize the little female was in heat! This happened after she put the ad in the paper, so maybe within the last week. Her vet said an abort shot might be dangerous.....hello! Like a pg 2 lb female wouldn't be?! Anyway, I know nothing about breeding...didn't know there was an abortion shot.....please any advice here? I'm so upset I'm shaking from my conversation with her. I'm going to call back this afternoon after she talks to the vet again today. How soon can they tell if she is pregnant? and if she's not, is 2 lb safe to spay? Oh, and btw, the reason she's selling her is because "she's too small to breed"!!! |

I would definately think that a spay would be much less risky than allowing a 2 lb female to carry a litter to term and then deliver them. :( |
Omg, are you thinking about rescuing her? Oh I hope so. How scary if that little one is pregnant :(. Poor little girl. |
I would definitely spay her |
she is way too small to be mommy.. She needs to spayed.... |
OMG that is way to small to be pregnant. She's tiny. |
So, you aren't sure if you are getting her, or you are getting her? If you are deciding still, you could call your own vet and give them the scinerio so you know what your looking at as far as what you may be in for, it sounds like your smart enough to do what's right by the dog, or at least you understand that that size is unacceptable to keep w/ male dogs. I think a better home for her would be a good start for this little one. |
I'm going to call the lady back this afternoon.....after she talks to her vet again. I really want her.....but, I'm not sure.:( I mean, if she is pregnant, I don't want to get attached and then maybe loose her! I'm getting the impression that if she is - or not - the abort shot is dangerous. How soon can the vet tell if she is? If she is not, the lady already said she will have her spayed....I will be talking to my vet before I make any decisions. |
A baby having BABIES OH NO!!! Hi, I would deff. have her spayed immediately. If she is preg, does the woman know which one of her males is the daddy if so what does he weigh???????????????? That is an important issue too, especially if this woman is gonna keep this female for the pups. I am really PRAYING that everything is done fo THE DOG's Benefit and no other reason. PLEASE keep us posted on the outcome..... Thanks and God Bless, Sharon PIXI & SPIKE |
you can get her spayed if she is PG .. It will cost more but better if she is... |
1 Attachment(s) She just sent pictures.....lets see if I can do this... |
She is just adorable!!!! |
beautiful....has she said anything else about preg???? talked to the vet yet?? How long has it been since she thinks it might have happened, youd think she could have a bloodtest to see if she is before rushing into surgery. but she does need to be fixed. My 3 lb will be in about a month.... we have her brother too and DO NOT wnat any accidents... |
What a precious little girl. I hope she's not pregnant. I know nothing about breeding but I would talk to my vet and see what he suggests. If she is I would have her spayed immediately and pray she is ok. Sounds like she would have a better chance that way. Poor baby. So innocent. Good luck I hope it works out for both of you. Finger's crossed. |

There should be laws passed...legislators need to get involved!!!! This is B/S...I went to a Paws for the Cause event this past weekend. One of the Pet Spa vendors had a Poster about this sweet boy Riley. He's had such a rough life, several operations, and noone knows what his future holds....all because of over breeding these poor dogs. The ladies just have taken him on as their problem. He put his paws down and their hearts haven't been the same since they met him. He has been in and out of foster care. He's gorgeous. All of his health problems are because the money takes the humanity out of these breeders. So selfish!!! They need to pay for this in more ways than one. :thumbdown:thumbdown |
This breeder needs to take responsibility for her huge mistake and have this girl spayed asap and not pass the problem onto a new owner. After she recovers, she can then try to find her a forever home. |
I'm hoping that's what will happen. I'm going to leave my number with her and hopefully if all goes well, I'll have a complete 6 pack in a couple months!:D |
Ok, I just spoke with her again. She's waiting for a call back from the vet to set up a spay appt. (vet had left the office). Now I find out her yorkies are kept in a pen OUTSIDE! If its too cold for them, she puts them in their camper where there's heat! She said the little girl has a shrill howl/scream when she's closed up; like a crate or cage. Well, I guess I would too! She is not house broken, so I'm not sure how she'd do in the expen when I'm at work. Something else.....those of you that have 7 -8 lbers and tinys...do they do OK together? I would die if one of them hurt her. I'm going to check back tomorrow with her to see if she has a spay date yet. Will keep ya posted. |
I think she is sweet and I would get her |

I think I need to get her too....but, do you think I should wait till she has her spayed? or let my vet do it?? |

Sorry- I have to put my 2 cents in. I would not let her vet do the spay and get her out ASAP! If this is how she "cares" for her babies, what kind of thought went into picking her vet? Sorry, I would pay for the spay myself and rescue her before its too late and know that I did my best for her. |

Good Luck!!! |
This is all simply amazing! Why on earth wouldn't she have had her fixed and since she didn't why would she put her with males when she was in heat? Accidents do happen... but in this situation, it should have been avoided at all costs! |
