| I thought about making her walk, but she was so darn mezmorized by her first 2, I just wanted her to bond with them. It also occured to me that I had the lights on and was right there with her, i think she's the kind of dog that would appreciate some low lights etc. I will try a more toned down atmosphere for her if I ever do that again. I would probably try to walk her a bit too, I was so blasted tired by the end that getting worried about her made me feel that much worse. She wasn't pushing at all during those times, like her labor was completely stalled. I contacted 2 vets that night and one said that if she wasn't pushing or having contractions, they could actually go 6-8 hours between pups safely. That was the Michigan State Univ. emergency vet that said that. SHe is doing so wonderful with them, I have to force her away from them just to take a bathroom break. SHe is a wonderful momma. Thanks for the suggestion, there is a few things I would do differently in the future.
After the whelp, I cleaned everything up and then I had to get some sleep, so I am hoping that all the nursing caused her to expell the placenta it while I took a nap. SHe has had a bit of diahrea, so maybe she did get another one, if she did that would make 3 she ate. The vet sees her tomarrow, so I will ask what they think. Again, thanks for the advise!:) |
