| Is there any hope for floppy ears My Yorkie is almost 2 and she had floppy ears when I got her. I tried when I 1st got her at 10 weeks to get them to stand, but I felt her ear and I have never felt a thicker ear on a yorkie. Is there any way to get them to stand now? I dont want to mess with her now, because she is pregnant, but is there a way to fix floppy ears on a older yorkie? |

| Unfortuantely, if her ears have never stood by this point, there will not be anything you can do to train them. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Agreed....if they are not up by 6 months of age, any efforts in getting them to stand after that are futile. I don't know what you did in trying to get them to stand when you first got her, but I would think that had you shaved them, taped them, and been persistant and consistant enough, they could have been trained to stay up. I suppose though that there are a few exceptions & the ears are just too big or to heavy to ever stand. I'm sure she is beautiful ears up or down. When are her pups due? You can do the same with the pups' ears if you see that they are not coming up by 6-7 weeks if you feel the need. Good luck with her pregnancy & keep us posted.

| Thank you for your information. Yes she is very beautiful with her ears down. My male has perfect ears also his is up. This will be her 2nd litter and all the puppies in the 1st litter's ears are perfect like daddy's I had no problem with them at all. I did try the shaving and taping of her ears when I got her, But I noticed that the thickness of her ears were amazing. They were about 3 times as thick in skin as my males. even at the top of her ears. I taped them continuously off and on for weeks but they would not stand up I keep them shaved now and when she gets excited her ears go up a little but the tops dont at all, Its like they are too heavy or something. LOL I LOVE her just the same, she is unique. Her puppies are due March 16th! In her last litter she had 3 females and 1 male 1st litter. She is scheduled to have 4 again this time too. So I cant complain, she is the perfect companion, perfect mommy and perfect mate for my male. |
