| Clipping Ears and Tails My husband and I are looking to add a yorkie puppy to our family. Is it necessary to clip the ears and tail? I realize this is done when they are born but can we ask a breeder not to clip them? |

| the ears are not clipped .....the dew claws are removed and tails docked. In the u.s . most breeders perform this per breed standard but is not necessary.

Yorkie Yakker | This is not a mandatory thing. Breeders normally do this to add to the looks of the pups. I believe that AKC standards have requirements for the tails to be docked, but the ears are not docked at all. They tape the ears to make them stand up and keep the hair cut really short so the cartilage doesn't break and become floppy. Dew claws are normally removed as well, but our Daisy still has hers. |
