Hey Paula any news yet? |
2 Attachment(s) Yes... waiting is hard...Glad mine is over... Candy gave birh to two puppies early this morning, 2:30am and 4:30am. 65 Days after 1st tied. 16 hours after her temp dropped from 100.30 to 98.30 and remain between 98.1 to 98.3. About 3 fours before labor, she was walking fast like she was looking for something in the room, she also just moved in and out of her box often, fixing the cloths pieces I put in the box. What an experience! Good luck to you and your pups!! Jen |
temp low in mornings I have been shocked that my 3 year old yorkie who is due Nov. 3 temperature is so low in the mornings and higher at night. She averages 100 at night. The last couple mornings the lows of 98 threw me. This is her first litter. I believe she has just 1 pup (bread 1 day 2x) but will wait to see. This temperature thing seems not so textbook as I have been reading. It took me until last week to be sure she really was having a puppy not just a false pregnancy. I do feel a puppy moving now. |
Princess Hi my Princess was about 5.5lbs when we bred her counting from her first bred date she should give birth NOV 11 which is exactly 13 days from now she has gotten big too the male that we bred her with was about 2.5lbs im just so nervous and want to make sure that im doing everything right she will be 8weeks on Tuesday what signs should i be looking for? All she does is sleep most of the day eats play a little then right back to sleep she's als been very clingly more than usual... With her being her size n the father being his size how many pups do u think i should expect? Im just blabbering on im just so excited i guess |

Maggie is due the same time as your Princess. Is this her first litter? If so I would take her in to have xrays so that you can be sure the pups aren't too big to be delivered. Sometimes the female can be too narrow and the pups can get out and you may need to take her in for a c-section. These websites will help you with getting all the things you need and what to do if something goes wrong. There are also signs to look for when she gets ready to whelp. Digging, panting, looking at her rear, mucus plug, shivering, throwing up, emptying her bowels and bladder, contractions, pushing, etc. As far as the amount of pups once again I highly suggest getting xrays done. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it. Princess Thanks yes this is my 1st litter and congrads to you and Maggie... Im going to make her a vet appt. when should i start temping? Is this your 1st litter also? |
Thank you. Congrats to you to. I thought so you sound like I did with my first litter. No not my first litter. but this is Maggies 2nd time. I think the general time to start taking the temp is a week before she's supposed to be due. Make sure you have some Vaseline or KY jelly. Maggie had 4 with her first litter. I think someone once said the first litter was the smallest. If that's true or not I don't know. Anyway I will post the results from Maggies xray Monday evening. |
Princess yea im nervous and excited at the same time but one thing that i have notice is that she does alot of licking and biting down there and she wont let me touch her belly is that usual? |
I am excited also. I think that she is just getting ready. I know they sometimes will bite the hair around their nipples so the pups have a better chance of finding them and not get all tangled in the hair. My vet recommended Dermcaps it is supposed to help with dry skin. I have noticed with Maggie that she tends to lose alot of her natural oil when she is pregnant so since my darling hubby decided not to get them from the vet when he took her in for a spiderbite that she had an allergic reaction to, I will have to pick them up on Monday when I take her in for her xrays. |
