Trend w/ Requests for Breeder Info This is a random question, I know. But I have noticed a pattern on YT regarding threads where people are asking for information or opinions regarding breeders. How is it that when a thread is started by someone asking for info about a particular breeder, people who have NEVER posted before (or very little) manage to find the thread and either give a rave review or a really bad one on the breeder and seem to have a really stong opinion one way or the other? Or someone joins YT, immediately finds that thread somewho and the very first (and sometimes only) post is a detailed account of their dealings with that breeder? Not that there is anything wrong with that, but to me it just seems kind of odd? How much stock would you put into the info that person says, vs a long time member's advice? Just curious... |
I have seen it too especially in Breeder review and I know in at least on instance the breeder sent them here to make the post |
IMO the ones that give the bad review are a little more valid. But the RAVING reviews seem really fishy to me....Again this is IMO. When they are posting their first post and give a good review of a questionable breeder I skim over the post but don't give it much thought...other than question if it is a friend of the breeder or the breeder theirselves! |
Com' on, Bama...those people aren't only breeders...they're psychic. ;) |

It also amazes me how quickly a newbie comes on here and with only 1 post suddenly places an ad selling their puppies. If your going to be a part of the YT forum to list puppies for sale... Why not be an active member who contributes to the betterment of YT and the breed standard for Yorkies?? Yet they come and go so quickly most often dissappearing after finding a home for their puppies. |

I pointed that same exact thing out on a thread awhile back in here. I don't really take to heart anything posted by someone when its only their first or second post honestly. Most of the time you see 2 posts maybe by that person, then they are never back again. |
I also have wondered this as well, but I always just assume its a friend of the breeder or the breeder themselves backing themselves up. I dont even see why these people even try, its obvious that when your first post is testimonial to a breeder on a post that is questioning them. |
Well, I have seen it as well. However, I am a "newbie" myself.....I normally just "read" the threads when they are like that and I really don't comment on them. I go to the website usually that is spoken of and then that is that....usually I see things but I don't really bring them out because I feel it is not my place....being that I haven't been here that long myself. I found this thread bc I as I said I was looking at someone asking a question about a breeder....and there was a link that lead me here! I do think something is rather fishy....but that is just my opinion. |

If you mean that someone asks a question about a particular breeder and gives a link, then someone new posts and gives a rave review, this is probably what's happening. Every time someone from YorkieTalk opens that link, the person who owns the website finds out where that link has been posted. When he checks it out, and finds a question concerning the quality of his kennels, he would be tempted to pose as a disinterested third party, and post a rave review. Sometimes they post as themselves, and tell how they found the question. This can be done even if they don't even give a link, but just a name, and someone types that in the address bar. |

Sometimes I'm inclined to think...they post as themselves...then sign up again and post as a disinterested third person. |

Can't the moderators check the ip addresses, so you could tell if two or more screen names are posting from the same computer? :) |

I have a question, have you an answer? Quote:
You know, I think people usually only take the time to leave a comment about someone if they had a bad experience. I don't mean that people with good experiences don't leave comments, I just mean that usually if you had a bad experience, you try to either warn others or you try to vent. Either way, there are more motivations for going online and leaving a review. Otherwise, you are just busy in general being really happy about your choice and enjoying your puppy. (Also, usually if you have something nice to say, you are probably more likely to say it directly to that person, instead of going to a forum and announcing it to the world. right?) So, if you are a good breeder, and all of your customers are happy except for one in your many years of practice, and that person left a negative review of you in a public forum, what would be your best bet? (I am not defending any particular breeder or whatever, I am not sure if there IS a specific one or specific one(s) that we are implying, it's not my point, I am just curious as to what WOULD BE appropriate to do if someone said something bad about you that is not true in a public forum like this?):D:D |

I just wanted to go on record and state that it was a general observance, not something related to ONE particular instance, as it seem to have been suggested. That's all. :) |
well...to add my less than 2 cents - I think there are some instances where a breeder gets reviewed (especially when there was a problem) and maybe.... someone contacts that breeder somehow to alert them - in turn - said 'breeder' runs to YT - signs up and posts their 'side' of things while we all sit back eating popcorn while drama unfolds - gotta love the net - |

Hello, I am from Calif/Arizona now. I got a little yorkie from Elainea a yr ago. my mom and i were just looking at different places on the comp. We fell in love with Elainea's site and found the most perfect lil girl. Elainea was and to this day still very willing to answer all questions. She has kept in touch. Sara is reg with AKC . She came to us healthy ,happy and still is. I cant say the amount of help and care Elainea has given us as it is bottomless. I think someone needs to stand up here and give credit where credit is due. Elainea deserves that credit as a good and reputable "breeder". and NO i never met her b4 we bought Sara.my sweet Sara. By the way..There are pics of my Sara on Elainea's web site and she wants more for recent gotta go get Sara a new dress for the pic,bye now |
