Is this it??? Felicity is due somewhere between 9/4-9/10.... I have been waiting and up for the past three nights every hour checking on her....Her temp has been 89.9-99.3 since middle of the night. When after that will i see digging, panting and other signs.. Need to know various breeders answers ... How long should it be before whelping? Help im so nervous... I have been informed about everything about whelping but not various time spans for temp drop to next sign of labor. |
If the temp dropped like you said , be prepared it will be in the next 12 to 24 hours . |
temp is 98.3 and she yelps everytime i leave the room. When should she start labor and how long does the panting and labor part usually last? |
The first stage varies as it does with all humans. I have one girl who rarely shows any signs until she is ready to start pushing. I have another who was very vocal prior to. You should be able to see and feel the contractions starting in her tummy. Hey at least it is daytime. I hope she goes for you during the day. Will check back often to see if you have any questions. There will be lots of people around to help. Don't panic they can sense your tenseness. Just reassure her everything is okay and you are there! |
should i be sitting next to her at all times or should i leave her alone for a bit she keeps barking/yelping when i leave the room. which she hardly ever does |
I suppose that is up to you! :D I certainly don't think it will harm her to leave her alone for a few minutes. Can you put her in a central part of the house where you are close by so she feels more comfortable? I wouldn't leave the house with her this close to delivery. This is just my opinion. |
My female's temperature dropped early in the morning, so I took the whole day off from work and then she slept the whole day and went into labor about 11p.m. Your female sounds like it is coming close -- she sounds anxious. I would stay with her if that makes her feel better -- my female very suddenly started turning in circles, digging and w/i minutes the first puppy popped out, she yelped in surprise and so did I -- it happened so quickly. |
For mine...normally after the temp drops and stays down, its normally 12 - 24 hours, but more close to 12 in my experience. I watch mine like a hawk. You will notice her getting uncomfortable, wondering...searching for a place. Mine even try to get under beds. I usually at that point grab the laptop and stay in the whelping room with her. I'm to nervous to leave. I leave for minutes...and thats all. I would have your supplies ready. I'll check in on you and see how things are going. Shouldn't be long now! Another thing I do is I always cal my vet just to t=give them the heads up that I had a temp drop..."just in case" I need to take her in, that way he has a heads up I may be needing him if there is a problem. |
i am lying on the bathroom floor next to her box. she is digging in the baby blanket and hidding under it. no panting just breathing heavy |
