| Cookie2 | 09-03-2008 05:55 PM | Mine had a c-section also and I had to hold the puppy on her nipple to nurse or else she would stand up and walk away as the puppy was trying to suckle. She kept sleeping away from the puppy and refused to be his mom. This went on for like 3 -4 days. She didnt know this was her baby. I mean think about it. One day there are no puppies around and the next day there are these little puppies trying to suckle...it might take a few days for her hormones to kick in. Thats what happened to mine. I was scared at first and even had to syringe feed the newborn puppy for those first days. Mine also growled at her puppy. She was in pain for the first few days but by the 4th day she was doing very well. Weigh your puppies every morning to make sure they are gaining. Even if you have to sit on the floor and make sure all the puppies get milk. I didnt sleep the first week. By the 8th day I was sleeping through the night finally without having to get up every 2 hrs to supervise.
Good Luck
