CArrie Sawyer/ Puppy matchmaker, Chouteau, Ok Anyone heard of her, bought from her before??? Carrie Sawyer or the puppy matchmaker. |

Watch out for this one... I bought a puppy from her a few months ago, and though I absolutely adore my dog, I wish I'd chosen a different breeder. When I first started looking into this woman, I couldn't find any negative comments about her. Now, though...well, they're popping up. As for my own experience: Carrie Sawyer claimed that the puppy I'd chosen was just over two pounds. When I went to the airport to claim her, however, I instantly realized that she was at least twice the promised size (she turned out to be slightly larger than twice). I no longer care, of course--as I said, I'm attached--but size is a factor when buying breeds like this, and I wouldn't have purchased this particular puppy if I'd known the truth. I've since heard from others who have experienced the same problem with this woman--one lady claims that she received a different dog entirely--and it's become obvious that she's not an honest breeder. On top of that, within three days, my puppy started showing symptoms of an illness that had her vomiting and foaming at the mouth. She couldn't even keep water down, and I had to rush her to the animal hospital. My vet spent hours upon hours trying to save my puppy and only succeeded after he'd spent thousands of dollars in medicine and care. She nearly died twice, and she had to be on a special diet for quite some time after. My vet explained that the puppy had an intestinal virus that could only have come from the breeder's kennels. I will admit that my puppy seemed absolutely healthy when she arrived, and this virus could have been dormant for weeks before she came to me, but even so...watch out for this one. |
carrie sawyer stay away! I purchased a puppy from carrie sawyer in September 2007. He is the best thing that could have ever happened to me! But he didn't come to me that way! When we picked Stitch up from the airport he had a terrible smell coming from his ears! We couldn't figure out where it was coming from at first. We took him to petsmart and the groomer immediately went to his ears and started pulling out overgrown hair and an extremely large amount of a black darkish red stuff that looked like dirty putty. She also showed us that his footpads were overgrown with hair. The very next day we took him to our vet and found out that both ears were irritated, he had kennel cough, and he also had giardia!! I called carrie and was told that he was the last of the litter and his ears were probably overlooked and that he was personally groomed by her 14 yr old daughter the day before he came. I did notify the BBB and even though my baby suffered so much I was only able to get back 101 dollars. That was the amount of the medication that I had to purchase! I do admit he is a wonderful little guy, a bit timid, but my little man! I would never recommend her to anyone. It's hard enough having a new puppy, but a sick one is very, very hard! |

Still...good for you for keeping the puppy and giving him the attention he deserves. Heaven knows he wasn't getting it from the breeder! |
Carrie Sawyer doesn't claim to be the breeder on her website, but just the "matchmaker" who acts as the third party between the buyer and seller, in other words, the broker. Oklahoma is one of the top puppymill states and she has a pretty website to sell those puppies. Please don't be taken in. Listen to the other posters who have purchased a puppy from her. |
I am so sorry your baby is still not healthy! I guess I should have done more research! Unfortunately she is still selling puppies and they are more than likely sick too! Did you report her to the BBB? I also notified the Oklahoma aspca and humane society. |
wow I am so glad I didn't buy a puppy from her. I almost did ayear ago but then lost my job. Then did some research and found she is really just a broker. |
I have knowledge of who these people are and have no respect for them. Their history of exploiting animals goes back almost twenty years that I'm aware of. |
great site! I think this is a wonderful site and I wish I would have found it earlier! Everyone is so great! |
found consumer email Company Contact = Carrie Sawyer Company Address = P.O. Box 576 City = Chouteau State/Prov = OK Zip2 = 74337 Country = United States Company phone = 918-386-2654 Incident = I purchased a 12 wk old black yorki poo from Carrie Sawyer for 795 plus 200 shipping! He arrived into Bradley airport in CT on Sept 20,2007. When we removed him from his kennel we noticed a terrible odor, but otherwise he seemed fine. That night he proceeded to scratch and rub his ears against everything. I took him to Petsmart the following morning and the tech stated she was surprised he came from a reputable breeder! She cleaned out his ears and gave me two Q-tips blackened with debris. She said to get him to a vet. She also pulled out mounds of hair which should not have been in there. Also the hair was so long between his foot pads he was slipping. Later that day he had his first vet appointment and he was found to have two really bad ear infections! I emailed Carrie to let her know and she stated \"he was the last of his litter and she should have kept a better eye on his ear care! The next day I received a call from the vet stating my puppy had \"Giardia, and that it was a pretty heavy infestation and I needed to start him on meds as soon as possible. Again I emailed Carrie and she stated she would only pay for ear mite meds and nothing else! I never said anything pertaining to ear mites. Her website states she will send a free puppy pack upon request, which I did request twice! No package no response. When I emailed her about the Giardia, she said that my letter only mentioned coccidia which is not covered per her contract. This coccidia was never mentioned by me until I gave her a follow up stating these were two different infections! I was sent a sick puppy and have had to pay for medicines for two different infections that my puppy should have not came with! I have a copy of what her website states and of all the bills and paperwork! Damage Resulting = I have paid 145.50 for meds and tests excluding the intial visit costs which I understand is my responsiblity. But I now would like to be reimbursed 14.99 for his groom due to the bad odor, dirty, unplucked ears, and removal of the excess hair on paw pads. The 145.50 for medical bills and 250.00 of his purchase price for misrepresentation of a product, sale of a sick puppy and not receiving a puppy package upon request, which I requested twice. thank you Contact me = Y this is the original email I sent to consumer affairs!.AOLWebSuite .AOLPicturesFullSizeLink { height: 1px; width: 1px; overflow: hidden; } .AOLWebSuite a {color:blue; text-decoration: underline; cursor: pointer} .AOLWebSuite a.hsSig {cursor: default} |

carrie Your babies are beautiful! I guess you were very lucky that they weren't sick. Maybe she was good back then, but my little man was very sick! But I still love him very much!!!:animal36 |
"Who is the breeder listed on their papers? Not Carrie I suspect." Hmmm... good question I will have to look at the paperwork to see who's name is on there. I'm pretty sure it was her or her husband though  |
"Your babies are beautiful! I guess you were very lucky that they weren't sick. Maybe she was good back then, but my little man was very sick! But I still love him very much!!!" Thank you. Sorry, your little guy is sick.:( |
Mine was sick too I bought a Yorkie-Poo puppy from her two years ago. He was a GORGEOUS 10 week old pup....that is until I looked at his "papers" from him, and found out he was eight weeks old. I had him flown in to me, and realized that within the first 10 hours something wasn't right. He was coughing terribly and had digestive problems. I called Carrie, and she said I had given him too much dry food. (This is BS because I had only had him for 36 hours!) She blew me off, and then found his diagnosis was an upper-respiratory infection. She could have cared less when I let her know about this. Two years later I have nothing but love from my little guy....but I WILL NOT purchase again through her....My only concern is what happens to the puppies if we stop buying them? My pup is so wonderful and amazing, that I can't those little babies anywhere other than a home like everyone that reads this blog. I want to buy another Yorkie-Poo to get my pup a brother...does anyone have a sugestion? BTW....I live in dallas |
please spread the word no PUPPY MATCHMAKER! I feel so bad for everyone who has purchased a puppy from carrie sawyer!:thumbdown She is a horrible breeder or broker or whatever you will refer to her as. She does not care about these little ones! I am just glad she will never be able to put her hands on my little Stitch ever again!! Please pass the word to anyone who is thinking of dealing with her. Let them know they will not get the cute little healthy puppy they are promised! And also tell them GIARDIA is extremely hard to irradicate. |
Obviously this is not the thread to find a new pup....yorkiepoos in particular, but ANY help would be greatly appreciated! I just don't want to go through her again! ;) |
Purchase from Carrie I purchased a shihpoo from Carrie in early 2008. When I picked Leo up at the airport he was smelly but I thought that was from him getting sick in the carrier. I immediately gave him a bath in the restroom and assumed he would be fine. I ended up taking him to the vet later in the day. He needed fluids as he was dehydrated, he had two ear infections, and also had Coccidia. I spoke to Carrie several times, after I got him and in the last few months. She is pretty non-chalant about any problems I "think" Leo has and has had. It was clear that she was not sincere about her contract or about the dog in general. One thing she did offer three days after the purchase when I contacted her about my $500 vet bill, was to send Leo AKA Max back and her send me another dog. I was flabergasted as I was already so attached to him. He is a little over a year old now and is of course, the love of my life. However, he does have some digestive problems. He was to eat Royal Canine, which I can't believe he ate before because he would never touch it with me. Nor did I receive the free care pack that was promised. He has had so many stomach problems that I feed him chicken breast and rice now just to be safe. All in all, he is a great dog with a wonderful personality. However, if I ever purchased another it would not be from her. I don't feel they are true to their word and I kind of think now he did come from a puppy mill. :thumbdown |
poor baby! Shemeezie, I am soo sorry! She is a horrible person who could care less about the well being of these puppies! My Stitch has the best personality in the world, he's very gentle and sweet, but he came to me soooo sick. I would never recommnd her to anyone! If you go to other consumer sites you will see complaints about her. Take care of your baby:animal36 at least he's in good hands now! Tara |

I agree, she is awful but she did give me the best little gift ever! Take care, Brandi:animal36 |
i actually got my Bryan from her April 19, 2008.....he arrived a little shaken but he was fine....no health problems.....the only complaint that I have is she said he would be only 6 lbs well last week he got weighed and is 13 lbs....but i do love him and i'm very happy with my purchase....don't think i would buy from her again:eek: |
Gosh, I'm amazed at how many folks had bad experiences with Carrie. I thought I was the only one! Three years ago I was looking for a male toy poodle (parti). I found a beautiful looking one on puppyfind (I know, big mistake). I called her and asked many many questions (I breed poodles, so I thought I knew what to ask and what to look for). He was only 6 weeks old when she posted the ad, so I had to wait 3 weeks for her to ship him out. In those 3 weeks I asked her repeatedly if she was the breeder of the pups, and she told me repeatedly she was. I should have been suspicious when she emailed me photos of the pup on the hood of a car! When I asked for updated photos of the pup, she claimed she didn't have batteries for her camera!, another red flag. When I picked up Chance at the airport he was a mess! He was underweight, had fleas, worms, you name it! When I contacted Carrie she said to ship him back and she would refund my money. Needless to say, I didn't believe her. I also found out he had some kind of back problem that we never knew if it were hereditary or an injury. I originally bought him for breeding, but as soon as I got the report from the vet I placed him in a pet home. Carrie has a great website, and can talk the talk, but beware! |
I got my puppy yorkie from Carrie too A co-worker of mine purchased two yorkies from Carrie and highly recommended her to me. I should have researched more... I was lucky in that little Gizmo arrived healthy and happy for the most part. He did end up having kennel cough, but that was treated with antibiotics. My reservations began when Carrier seemed to be confused on which dog I wanted even though we spoke at least three times prior. I was also told he was microchipped and when I took him to his first vet visit, I found out that wasn't true. I asked Carrie about it and she said she had him confused with an older yorkie male pup. I found this interesting as she told me I was getting the last male yorkie. It just left me feeling uneasy. Although I'm very happy with Gizmo, I also would not recommend her. BTW... She has two websites going. www.sawyerpuppies.com and www.puppymatch4u.com |
sawyer mills DawnsoCal Sorry to hear about your experience! I'm not surprised, she's terrible! CS told me that my Stitch's mom was a 7lb poodle and his dad was a 4lb yorkie. She stated that stitch should barely be 7lbs! My little man weighs 14 1/2 lbs. Stitch's sister Lilo from another breeder weighs 7lbs just as her breeder stated she would, and his other brother Ziggman weighs 5lbs and Delilah weighs 3lbs, as thier breeder stated! Carrie has lied about everything from day one! People need to be careful if they do go to her! They just may end up with a sick GREAT DANE yorkie! |
Just an update for those who are interested: Carrie Sawyer has added a few things to her website which I found interesting. They could be a response to the complaints against her, which just shows that we're finally getting through to people and warning potential buyers about her deceitful behavior. Word is getting out, and that can only be a good thing. 1.) She's addressed those who have been complaining about her, and she mentions that some of her accusers come from animal rights groups...which is rather stupid of her, really. I mean, honestly, should she really be broadcasting the fact that animal rights people are getting involved? If she wasn't doing anything wrong, if the only ones complaining were random liars, why would animal rights people even care? She mentions that she's had over 2,500 clients over the last six or so years...is it just me, or is that not also a red flag? That many puppies in barely more than half a decade? How can she pretend she cares about each individual dog when she churns out that many? She also claims that the sick puppies had non-life threatening conditions...which is obviously why so many died or came close to death. Riiiight. Mine was one of them. Sorry, but that's a load of crap. And my favorite: She mentions that she's registered with the Better Business Bureau, and that she has an A rating. Assuming she wasn't operating before that and didn't just register in 2003, she's still blowing smoke in our faces. I checked with the BBB. Her A rating was given in 2006--nearly four years ago! (You know, there's a restaurant near me that claims the same thing. They say that they were given a clean bill by the health department, and they proudly display their A rating. Problem is, the place is a cesspool and has barely managed to stay open since. That A of theirs is half a decade old, as well, and their current rating is a C. They hide that one behind the drink machine.) I'm sorry, but even assuming she earned that rating, too much can change in so many years. It means nothing, and if that's the best she has to offer, I'm questioning her integrity all over again. http://www.sawyerpuppies.com/carrie-...matchmaker.htm 2.) She now has pictures of her kennels on her website. Assuming those are even hers...well, that's not helping her any. The kennels are only shown from a distance, and we only get to see the outside. And what we do see isn't great, because she has a bunch of dogs left in what are basically long pens. Sure, maybe the dogs are getting fresh air...but dumping them in a pen like that is not the same as giving them proper exercise or socialization. If she thinks that's acceptable...well, we already know that she doesn't care for her animals. 3.) She no longer advertises mixed breeds, but that doesn't mean she's not selling them. And even so, she now has Chihuahuas and Pomeranians for sale. A good breeder doesn't try to focus on more than one or at the most two types of dogs, and yet she keeps branching out. She already has four breeds...and that's still just assuming she's not crossing her dogs. She's absolutely a mill breeder. I just hope that we can continue helping others know the truth before they consider buying a dog (especially a Yorkie) from her! |
Carrie Sawyer, Puppy Matchmaker Yes, I did buy a puppy from Carrie, in fact I bought 2. About four years ago, I purchased Skyler. I truly believe that both Steve and Carrie were honest with me. I paid less for Skyler (named by Steve and Carrie and I kept the name) because he was estimated to weigh on the higher end for a yorkie and yes he does about high 7 pounds and he was a bit older about 5 months. I was worried that I would not get the puppy I ordered. Skyler had a very unique look about him so he would have been hard to substitute. When he arrived at the airport it WAS the one I chose, Skyler. He was and is a perfect looking dog. He was and is healthy and very smart. I am very happy with him. A year later, I decided that Skyler need a friend. I wanted a little girl with big eyes and one that would be a bit smaller that Skyler. I contacted Carrie and Steve again and reviewed the photos of the available pups, this took a few months to find the exact one I was looking for. Then one day, there she was, her name (given by Carrie) was Sparkler. I re-named her Carly. Again my experience with the Sawyers was the same. Easy to reach. Talk to and they answered all of my questions. When Carly (Sparkler) arrived, again, she WAS the one I chose, exactly. She had the big round eyes and as Carrie said, she would be on the high end of 6 pounds. She is. Health wise, both dogs are in great health and full energy and happy and smart. So my experience was very good. I am sorry so many others had bad experiences. I am glad however that everyone kept their little babies. Yorkies are just great little dogs...I am not recommending Carrie Sawyer, I just wanted to express my satisfaction with them and my dogs, they did tell me the truth and the pups were and are perfect. |

I'm happy that you received the correct pups and they were healthy. It doesn't change my mind though about Carrie's chosen profession. |
