I really need elp from some of you pro's out there. to show is my dream but I must produce the right pup first, Please help thank you Denise |
show breeder Hi- I went to the site, I have a few concerns. Does this woman show dogs, is this male a champion, or is she just talking about champions back from the early 1900's that she didn't have anything to do with? She says that "some of her lines" well, what about the rest of her lines? Second, the dogs that were sired by this dog, and this dog have HUGE ears. Also, low tail sets, which is VERY difficult to breed out. I would never breed to a male with a low tail set, or want him as part of my breeding program. The color too doesn't seem consistant and you don't want silver/white pups, you can show them, but you will be wasting your money, not even the best of handlers could finish it. Are there other breeders that you could find in your area that goes to shows that you could speak with? Duncanmom |
male I would like to see the pedigree..but just out of curiosity, since the breeder is selling him as a stud potential. I feel he is too long and leggy, light in color to produce show pups..and he is too coarse in his features.. I would sell him as a pet to be neutered...JMO JMO DO not lock yourself into a stud if you are hoping for show potential pups. GO and buy top of the line champion stud service with the best bitches you can get...and buy from a breeder who actually shows...the breeder has cute pets, but I see no show potentials or champions she has finished..pets do not produce show stock 99% of the time...harsh, but true. I can dance around this and waste your time and money ..or be honest, brutally honest I have been told...LOL GOOD LUCK |

I would like to thank you so very much for your advice, I will try to find some that will do this, that has been vey hard to find in n.c do you know of anyone in my area that you would trust that would help me like that, I don't mind signing a contract or what ever it takes just want a chance but so many wil lie to you just to sell a dog I feelthat is what has happened here, so If you could lead me in the right direction I would be so greatful. Thank you so much for your time,Densie and I want you to be honest I admire that and need the truth, Don't worry about hurting my feelings I know what I am striving for and will take any advice I can get. |
I hope this doesnt come across the wrong way because this is not my intent. Sometimes you need to start with a dog/bitch outside of your line, prove his/her worthiness to breed via a conformation title and only when that has been attained use them in your breeding program. A conformation title is more than 2 letters before the dogs registered name, it is a consensus by breed professionals that your dog conforms to the breed standard set forth and is a good representation of the breed. Just because a dog is CH sired does not make it CH quality. A dog that is not CH quality is unlikely to throw pups that will succeed in the ring. If you want to produce quality dogs you need to stop breeding pets. I think it would be a great idea to go to a few shows and talk to breeders in the ring. Tell them what your goals are and that you would like to start breeding to improve the breed. Ask them to evaluate your breeding stock and listen unbiasedly to what they say. If you follow their advice I have no doubt you will attain your goal. Best of luck to you. This sounds like something you are really passionate about. |
Thank you so very much I do have some shows near me, How do I find a list of when they are being held? akc.org? or is there somewhere elese on the net I should go to find shows in n.c I have googled this but no help, Thanks so much for your help, Hope I can run into one of you nice people there, I really am greatful for all your help. god bless you all, Denise:) |
Go to the AKC website and click on Events and Award Search. In the menu click on your state, select "conformation events" and specify the time frame for the past 12 months it will show you a list of all of the shows in NC. You can click on each show, scroll down to the Toy group and click on the hyperlink--this opens up all of the breeds in the group. Click on Yorkshire Terriers from there and you can see all of the dogs entered there. I would look up the kennel names on each one and do an investigation. You can also post here about lines you have questions about. Once you find a line you are interested in go and meet that breeder at a show or at their home. I would focus on building a reputation with them before you start really talking about a dog. Another thing you might want to consider is talking to some of the well known handlers. You are still going to have to build that repoire with them but they may have access to lines that the individual consumer wouldnt necessarily. Best of luck again! |
Ooh..our posts crossed :) Infodog.com is a great place to go to find upcomming shows. You can also search by state. In the list of shows you want to concentrate on ones that say AB (all breed) in the "Type" column--it can be a bit confusing and you dont want to travel out to a field trial by mistake! ;) |

denise, go here United Kennel Club: Upcoming Events. i show UKc and love it and there are always lots of UKC shows in your area. it is a great place for beginners to start. Everyone iss so nice and helpful. |
breeding I could refer you to several on the east coast, but I am not familiar with west coast show breeders...I realize we do not all live in areas where there are show breeders...and that makes it hard. I would not deal with a breeder who asks for a puppy back..none have ever asked me for one. PS...Dee has a good Idea... |
